about the current 7.02 exploit

Just figured I'd post up here some info as far as the current exploit chain on ps4 7.02. for those who own a ps4 on 6.72 or lower I highly recommend you not update yet, keyword being yet. It works very well when it works, however it seems to be up to luck and how your specific console reacts to the exploit chain itself. My 7.02 fat style ps4 works very well has been fully tested after a refurb by myself(it needs a reball), I've used the current exploit to install a few homebrew apps, tinker in debug settings viewing the debug info available there for craps n gigs but haven't altered any settings out of fear of the unknown and not wanting to bork my console in some unforseen way, but it works great post exploit most of the time so far I've had a couple KP(faux instant power down but console remains powered on despite the lack of video output etc, requiring a forced full power down, or power held 15s or whatever) while using the console post succesful exploit but this rarely occurred. But it is kinda glitchy and does crash and hang sometimes, usually if my console is feeling it it would work successfully after little to no OOM popups(meaning the webkit exploit had failed, and you click okay to retry). Other times it would Out Of Memory popup more than 2 dozen times ultimately giving a failed to gain arbitrary r/w primitive, and I would fully power down and back on the console and try again. My point here of this rambling is yes it works, and is a great advancement for the community and I'm very grateful for this, but in my opinion if anyone is on 6.72 or lower stay there for now until some time has passed. For the rest of us(myself included) which were already on 7.02 this is great however buggy it may be. Also side note almost every power cycle after even a successful exploit my console goes through the KP system check crap so just putting that out there.

Seems this 7.02 exploit is fairly good, the main issue seems to be that it takes a while to initiate, like 1min 30sec ish, but the good thing is that if it fails it does not crash. You can just cancel the out of memory error and try again.

I think I will update my 5.05 pro soon.

This is the cleanest example of 7.02 that I've seen so far. No more shutdowns between failures is a huge improvement, despite the ~90 sec exploit time...

Very encouraging for those of us on 7.02. I'm gonna give this a go when things settle down after the holidays. I'll report back about my first dive in with the PS4 once I get some time.

Okay, I'm going to have some time over the next few days and I'm looking to get into the PS4 (I'm on 7.02) for the first time. I've been reading up since the exploits dropped for 6.72, and I have a few questions:

Can I host exploits locally on 7.02, and if so, are there any extra / different steps I need to take from the older guides? If I can avoid connecting to the net with my PS4, I'd prefer to go that route, I don't mind the extra bit of work to have full control over everything, and I have a pair of old Raspberry Pis just collecting dust, so that would be my preferred delivery method. I noticed the github project for the pi host hasn't been updated in a couple years, will this still work? Am I better off hosting from a laptop for the time being?

I've lurked around these boards long enough to know my way around pretty well, but I'm starting to figure out that I'm a little more lost than I hoped I'd be... fortunately, I'm not as clueless as I was when I first stumbled on these forums years ago and couldn't figure out what FMCB stood for. This site has educated me well over the years, but the PS4 makes me feel like a noob again.

My main goals are using HEN / MIRA, adjusting fan settings to prolong console life, making backups of my disc games (my drive doesn't like ejecting disks so I'm trying to minimize use in the future), and most frequently running Linux + Steam (the hardware of a PS4 is actually a huge upgrade compared to the garbage PC I've been using).

Any help is appreciated, and I'd love some links to written or video guides. I've read and watched several already, but I'm willing to bet that asking for a little help before I start will save me a lot of time and pain later.

FW: 7.02 OFW

Thank you!

@PS3PIR8 , there may be a way to self-host on 7.02, but I'm still on 5.05. it's pretty easy to do. you have to use something xampp or use what I use a sandisk connect to host the files. you'll be completely offline that way. with the connect, even ftp is offline.

edit: there's also an esp, which you have to flash. I'm pretty sure this is doable on 7.02. less expensive than the connect, but more problematic, since the connect can just use raw files.

you can also use kws on an android phone. you may have to look in a file explorer to find the name of your root directory (I had to).
