Advice on chip modding a 1.6 xbox

Hi everyone, I have a 1.6 xbox crystal that currently has a Rocky5 softmod (UnleashX) and I managed to install a 1TB HDD. But there are some oddities like the database for music file structure seems to have been corrupted and some games cannot load or be burned to the HDD (if coinops arcade emulator loads, it crashes the console because it attempts to play music from your HDD as standard on it's main menu which is now problematic as is trying to burn music to the console currently). Apparently this is a known issue with Rocky5 softmods.

I want to get it hard modded instead, my soldering experience isn't great, I saw there's an XEcuter X3 CE solderless chip (used with Xapt3r V1.6) these seem hard to find nowadays. I wouldn't mind paying for a professional to do the installation if it weren't solderless, but what chip would people recommend nowadays? I am looking to buy one too if anyone has one spare for sale.

Thank you

Welcome to the site :) Unfortunately I don't have the answer you're looking for, but just wanted to drop in say I like your username. Long live the Sixth House!

Also, as per the Site/Forum Rules & Guidelines we don't allow buying/selling/trading discussion. Thanks, and hope you enjoy the site/forums :)

Xecuter is ancient. There are currently better modchips like eg. Open Xenium but not solderless.

Before You solder modchip, dump EEPROM, read ATA Passwords and unlock drive on it because on PC is pain in ass to do that. All software then You will be able to put on Xbox HDD on PC (i.e by FATXplorer). Modchips (bioses on them) in majority can boots Xbox with unlocked drives, just FYI.

Thank you for the response, I'll look for this newer open xenium chip and will make sure to backup EEPROM and such (currently the console can boot a 1TB HDD whose info was copied from the original HDD from what I remember) but I'll double check this too.
