Another "hen failed rebooting"

So. i have a PS3 slim CECH-3004B.

I've installed HFW 4.86 twice from recovery, rebuilt file system + database, got no errors. installed hen via web browser (ps3xploit.me). using the hen installer (alternative method since only that one worked)

I've done everything i can think of, when i press Enable HEN, first it loads for a few seconds, then I'm back to enable hen screen, when i enable it a second time it just says "failed rebooting". I've tried with internet on/off. I've tried updated my time zone via internet etc.. it has says failed rebooting 10 times in a row now..

The funny thing is that i got it to work from a random youtube video and a local hen install.. but i wanted to do it all correctly since i encountered a few bugs.. Can you guys please point me in the right direction? Cheers.

UPDATE: i managed to get hen to run one time.. Played a copy i made of my UFC game. restarted the PS3. Now same issue again, failed rebooting a LOT of times in a row..

most of the time nothing happans when i enable it the FIRST time. I don't get the "welcome to hen" message. I only come back to XMB. once i press enable the second time it reboots.

UPDATE AGAIN:
Since i just couldn't get it to work, i updated to firmware 4.87, did everything again, now hen initilizes without problems, and it says "hen installed successfully" then it auto closes browser. but HEN is not installed at all.. not even after reboot.. I really need help with this guys!

Does anyone actually use HEN without any issues? are you guys able to always run HEN without it failing?

Which Toolset did you use to originally flash your machine ready for HFW??

No-one ever mentions that.

If you used one of the dangerous mirrors, then you won't get any support here.

What do you mean with which toolset? The hfw i downloaded was uploaded by a moderator on this site. Also tried other mirrors to see if it made a difference which it didnt. Thanks for your answer btw!

I already have hfw installed.. followed the great hen guide + marios videos. Also tried different versions, still the same issue.

I managed to get HEN activated, but it only works from the browser and only after like 10 tries with a lot of fails and reboots.

Please, Do not give advice unless you know yourself what you are talking about.

You do not use the toolset to get your console ready for HFW.
(or need the toolset for PS3HEN)

HFW installs over OFW.

Then to the OP, PS3HEN has to be relaunched on every boot.

Weird.
I couldn't get mine to work without the Toolset. I kept getting errors.
I guess there's more than one way to skin a cat.

First, i must say that i have tested every version of firmware with HEN from 4.80 - 4.90. All load and install without problems.

I think you are confusing HEN installing/enabling. When you have a clean system without HEN, when you visit the installer page (orange page) this has nothing to do with once HEN is actually installed and you launch from XMB. The installer page will exploit the web browser and launch the HEN payload. If HEN is not detected (by checking hen_enable.png from flash) it will initiate downloading a pkg, otherwise it will simply skip this if already installed.

So my confusion comes from you saying it never installed. So if you could explain in a bit more detail the steps you took and whether or not the pkg downloaded/installed, or if the console rebooted. If the HEN logo is appearing when booting, or if the Enable HEN icon is present on the XMB.

Under normal circumstances, if you are on a clean HFW, you simply navigate to the HEN installer page (auto recommended), the exploit will launch and load the HEN bin, the download of pkg will happen, it will install and then reboot. Upon reboot, you should have the egg icon for new coldboot image and also have the HEN Enable icon on XMB. From there, just clicking the egg icon to launch HEN is all that is needed, you no longer need to use the exploit page. If you do use the exploit page again after HEN is installed, it will still say "HEN Installing", but it is just loading the HEN bin and enabling only in this case.

Thanks for you answer, Gonna try to explain, from 4.87 OFW i install 4.87 HFW 2 times from recovery, no errors. After that i go to ps3xploit.me and click on hen auto installer, hen get's installed. after a reboot i have the "enable hen" icon, so far so good. when i actually CLICK on the enable hen, it's loading then jumps back to xmb, when i click a second time it just says "failed rebooting" and reboots, this happens almost every time, the only way for me to actually ENABLE Hen is to go to exactly (https://www.ps3xploit.me/hen/installer/index.html) that link (and only that link, the hen auto installer link won't work since it just says failed please reboot ps3 and try again), after it downloads a file, and i click on initialize and then install hen, 2/10 times it says "welcome to hen 3.2.2" in the right corner, after that message everything works like a charm, it is just that i cant enable hen from the "enable hen icon" on the xmb. Only via that link i showed. Just say the word if you need more info. Cheers.

OK. So your main issue is the xmb icon not working. Do you have any devices plugged in while its loading? Just trying to eliminate things. Its very strange cause I never ran into this problem. It does sometimes fail, but it should work most times.

Edit: do you also have auto login enabled for psn? As per this post, maybe this is causing issues.

The kernel exploit used in HEN is massively based on the use of network sockets, ideally, so as to not interfere with the exploitation process, you should try to have as little activity as possible on the network (local or wide Internet) in general before or while the exploit is running.

Any feature creating new sockets and destroying them would very likely interfere with the exploitation process, network communication attempts during HEN exploitation might be a problem for instance.
That may be the case for PSN auto login but the same could be said of other features such as automatic downloads.

This issue is SOLVED. The issue for some reason was my controller.. R2 was very slightly stuck.. I took apart my controller and cleaned it, put it back, now HEN is always starting on the first try. Thanks.
