Any way to get the Rebug Red Icons back on recent versions?

I updated my HEN exploited console recently from 2.0.0 for a few different reasons. Anyhow I was wondering if there is any way to get the Red PSN logo's back that 2.0.0 had, instead of the stock one's. I tried installing the Rebug theme from the HFW Tools menu, but that also changes the boot logo to "REBUG" instead of "PS3" and a few other changes to the theme which I'm not really feelin' since my system isn't really on CFW / Rebug lol.

If anyone knows of a way to do this and can help me out, I'd be thankful for the help. I have no idea myself but I'd assume there is a way to extract the icons from the 2.0.0 PKG and just replace the ones I have now with those?
 
oh, I meant rebug cfw. I was thinking the other way around. you can decrypt rebug with PUAD.

I have no idea how to do any of that lol. Thank you anyways though. I might just revert back to 2.0.0 then, was hoping there'd be a way to use the icons from that on later versions without having to change the entire theme.
 
there's probably an easier way to do with hen, but that's the first thought that came to mind. I think it says on psdevwiki which rco files have the red icons when on rebug.

That theme installer is a PKG i guess ?
In that case you could extract his contents (with pkgview or other tool), and write in flash only the files you want
You can copy the files to USB, plug it in the PS3, and use a filemanager to (1) enable dev_blind/dev_rewrite (2) overwrite the files from USB ---to---> dev_blind/dev_rewrite

Before doing that i suggest to write a list of the extracted files here in the forum because sometimes there are files that are dependant of others... and in that case you need to decide if using them "in groups"
Im not going to be able to tell you which ones can be replaced individually, but im sure there is people in the forum used to that theme

If you just want the red icons, it's simple, install the rebug theme, open multiMAN, go to file manager, open dev_rewrite / vsh / resource ... and copy the following files: explore_plugin_full.rco, npsignin_plugin.rco, xmb_ingame.rco, xmb_plugin_normal.rco and and you're done ... install the default theme again, open multiMAN, go the same way as above and paste the files you copied before.

I'm gonna try that out! Thank you for the names of the RCO's, I didn't know what specific ones to look for lol.

Alright so I'm in File Manager but I can't find "dev_rewrite"

Root directory looks like this:

app_home
dev_flash
dev_flash2
dev_flash3
dev_hdd0
dev_hdd1
dev_usb000
ps3_home

I was only able to find "vsh > resource" under "dev_flash"

Will it work the same if I just copy and replace the mentioned files found there? Or am I risking a soft-brick lmao?
 
dev_flash is read only.

It would be much easier to just install the rebug theme pkg, then replace the coldboot with the standard one?

You should have dev_rewrite, you will get dev_rewrite on FTP anyway, maybe your file manager does not support it.

FTP is the best way for any PS3 file operations really, except for large transfers.

I'm using HEN 2.1.0 right now for a few reasons, could that be why I don't see dev_rewrite? File Manager is the one in multiman. If I enabled the option to "Write Access to /dev_flash ; Mount /dev_flash as /dev_blind with write permissions." would I be able to copy and replace the rco's that way? I'll check with FTP right now to see if I can find dev_rewrite. EDIT: No dev_rewrite via FTP either.

On a side note. How could I replace the cold boot with the standard one? I have the rebug theme pkg installed as we speak lol.

Ok, you are on old HEN, not sure what it used, i would have assumed dev_blind should be there.

You need to put the old coldboot.raf back into dev_whatever_you_use_for_flash/vsh/resource/. I've attached the OFW file.

damn it! ! ... I forgot that you are in the old version of HEN..well you can enable dev_blind in multiMAN, it's the same thing as dev_rewrite.
 
Alright I got it figured out. I went with what Danxx444 suggested and just copied the 4 files with the rebug theme installed, then reinstalled the stock blue theme and pasted over the rco's.

I enabled the write access to dev_flash option in multiman and that gave me dev_blind so I was able to get this done. Much thanks to you guys for your help! Was able to get this looking just how I wanted!

If you want to change the Enabler HEN icon is simple..Go on multiMAN enable dev_blind, open the file explorer: dev_blind / vsh / resource / explore / icon is look for the png photo as the name: hen_enable.png ... seen the name in the image, renamed the image you will replace with the same name: hen_enable.png, then just paste over the current one is ready! ... your icon will be renewed, remember, the photo you choose it has to be in png. My HEN icon has been replaced by a folder ... I prefer it that way.:-p

I'll try that out. Sounds easy lol. Does any image work so long as the format is png? No specific resolution or other requirements? Just rename it to "hen_enable.png"? I wouldn't mind using the egg icon that is on 2.3.1 lol.

That's right, I just renamed the photo to "hen_enable.png" ... Well I recommend png photos with a resolution close to the HEN icon ... because if you put a bigger one it will look weird on XMB ... I use some of those folders you already have in the system, like the one in package manager.
