Here it is a huge tutorial covering up various of topic related to HDD and partitions on PS2. It is written in Polish.

Tutorial covering up:

If someone want convert CD image in *.bin/*.cue format (2356 per block) to CD image in *.iso format (2048 per block) because i.e his toolkit doesn't allow to see/convert on the fly such disc images, and HDL/OPL partitions all must follow 2048 standard, then easiest way is to use IsoBuster.

1. Open disc image from *.cue.
2. Click right button mouse on "CD" and choose "Extract CD <image>" -> "Raw2User (*.iso)".

This will not works with games which using CDDA (audio tracks) and there is no tool to convert such image without ripping out CDDA (which makes game broken). In other words: this will works only with CD images which using only one Track. If there is another, there is no way to put it on internal HDD as partition. Personally I never saw such PS2 game but some peoples saying they exist. ;)
