PS3 Artemis no longer seems to work

PS3 Super Slim using HEN 4.93.

I was using Artemis v6.3 for the longest time, and after every time I launched it, it asked for an update (regardless of actually updating it), I finally manually installed v6.4. And now Artemis just...doesn't work. It'll load Artemis just fine, and I can get back to the XMB after selecting my cheats, but none of the cheats work, no matter which game I try, even for games I know for a fact worked with the prior version.

Then, to top it off, after using Artemis 1-3 times, it just flat out stops attaching cheats altogether. You no longer get the little pop-up notification that Artemis is ready to attach, and hitting Start at the XMB screen in-game does literally nothing. I can't get it to work anymore unless I do a fresh install, and it just ends up repeating this issue.

So I then I tried reinstalling vr6.3.1...the update notice was annoying, but I at least knew this version worked for me. Not anymore. For whatever reason, the cheat list doesn't populate, and if I use the Online DB, it still doesn't attach any codes.

Bonjour.

Etes-vous sûr que Artemis v6.3 fonctionne avec une console non compatible au CFW ? J'en doute fortement !

Are you sure Artemis v6.3 works with a console that isn't compatible with CFW? I seriously doubt it!

Artemis works on any PS3, be it CFW or HEN. What doesn't work on HEN is NetCheat and all the other tools to create cheat codes.

I've got conflicts with WebMAN MOD and Artemis a couple of times, because each one uses its own plugin in order to inject the codes in memory.

Have you tried disabling WebMAN MOD?. Also, a clean install could help diagnose the issue.

Bonjour @GuilloteTesla :

Hello @GuilloteTesla :

@bucanero never specified that Artemis works on consoles that aren't compatible with CFW, or I haven't seen that in the software documentation.

Could you tell me the lowest version that's compatible with CECH3004 consoles or better (CECH4004C and CECH4204C)? Which HBs are incompatible with Artemis, please?

OK, je vais essayer cette AM de l'installer sur ma PS3 sous le HEN v3.4.0 (CECH-4204C). Merci beaucoup. J'informerai ici de mes résultats.

OK, I'll try installing it on my PS3 this morning using HEN v3.4.0 (CECH-4204C). Thank you very much. I'll post my results here.

Yeah I had Artemis working before. I mean, it was still a game-by-game basis, not everything worked, but when it did, it worked fine. But games that did work before no longer work now.

I might need to do a little more testing (which testing on HEN can be a headache sometimes). But disabling Webman does seem to yield different results. But the game I was currently playing and trying to use codes on (Far Cry Classic) just freezes as soon as I attach them. But that's more than it was doing before when Webman was active (it'd attach codes, but nothing would actually happen).

But I still have the problem of Artemis just completely crapping itself after I use it two or three times. You can bring the app up and choose codes, but you no longer get the pop-up telling you it's ready to attach codes, and pressing Start at the XMB doesn't do anything. I have to do a fresh install to get it to work again. Which again, wasn't an issue before. Nor did I have to disable Webman before either. I just don't know if there's some incompatibility with the latest versions of...everything, or it's something with my PS3.

@GuilloteTesla :

Yesterday morning, I installed "ARTEMIS PS3-GUI-r6.4" for the first time on my PS3, which isn't compatible with CFW (Super Slim CECH-4204C-HEN v3.4.0), and I ran the usual cheat codes (used on a Slim CECH-2504B with CFW-4.92.2 EvilNAT), and EVERYTHING works perfectly.

WebMAN-Mod v1.47.48b is also installed, but with the fan speed set to 28% (because the variable fan speed causes random freezes when launching homebrew applications or games).

Now, a HUGE thank you for your excellent advice, @GuilloteTesla... I'll remember it!

Now that just begs the question...why is it working fine for you and not for me?

I have absolutely no idea !!!
My two PS3 (Super Slim) consoles, running HEN v3.4.0/HFW-v4.92.2 (CECH4004C and CECH4204C), are on WebMAN-Mod v1.47.48b and nothing else. The fan speed is currently fixed at 28%, and will be increased to 30% this summer (air-conditioned house). The machines are in an open, well-ventilated area.

So I then I tried reinstalling vr6.3.1...the update notice was annoying, but I at least knew this version worked for me. Not anymore. For whatever reason, the cheat list doesn't populate, and if I use the Online DB, it still doesn't attach any codes.

I never released "r6.3.1" so I don't even know where you got that from.
If r6.3 worked for you, just download the old release from the official Github repository:

Also, be sure to check the "Options" menu, you can disable the version update check if you want.

Side note about r6.4: if you want to use the old r5 plugin instead of webman-mod, be sure to open the "Options" menu and select the right "Artemis r5" plugin. Maybe your issue was related to that.

It's on Brewology if you click their previous versions tab. Says it was released on May 6th, 2022, and has the most downloads by far. Also, another at the bottom released a few months later. But I didn't know what was what, honestly.

I did all of that with the options. I made this thread after trying everything I could find. As I mentioned above, I tried going back to r6.3 but now the cheat database doesn't load anymore. You click cheats, and it's just blank. They load if you click on Online DB, but that doesn't work either (though it was 6.3.1 and as you're saying that may not have been an official release, so that could be the culprit). I've tried switching the plugin version to r5, but it does the same thing. The only time I get a different result is by disabling Webman (which I never had to do on the previous version), but then the games freeze as soon as the cheats are attached. And then, of course, the issue with Artemis just flat out no longer working after using it a couple of times, unless I do a fresh install (but then it just fails to work again, just a repeating of the results).

Only thing I haven't tried is reinstalling everything...but....I was really hoping to prevent that. For once, HEN is actually semi-stable for me (not perfect, but this has been the best it's ever been since I started using it a few years ago), and I don't want to jinx that considering Artemis is the only thing not working right for me.

But I'll try just r6.3 and see how that fairs.
