PS3 Artemis PS3 Hacking (Cheat) System by Dnawrkshp

UPDATE (June 4th 2015): bitsbubba has added some user friendly packages for adding NetCheat codes to the Artemis GUI (which has been updated also to support Cobra CFW), See original [break]ss[/break] below:

Do you like cheats or devices like CodeUnique? Well, if so then developer Dnawrkshp has shared a project that that may be of interest as he and other contributors have been working on the Artemis PS3 Hacking System, It's an Open Source project that will allow you to apply Netcheat codes to many of your favorite games with ease. Checkout the details of this project (App and Plugin) below and the Video Demonstration provided from the developer.

Artemis PS3 Hacking System

I'm pressed for time right now so I can't write a full write-up, but basically Artemis PS3 is similar to CodeUnique except it is free and open source.
Artemis PS3 is a part of Project Artemis; a larger, collaborative initiative to create hacking systems for those that lack one already. If you care to, you may read more about it here: GameHacking.org | ARTEMIS. Artemis PS3 will be added to it later.

Again pressed for time so here's an old video I have of Artemis in action

. Since then there have been a few graphical changes, but mainly just more features.

The source code, as always, is on my Github https://github.com/Dnawrkshp/ArtemisPS3. It has a instructional readme to help you get it running on your PS3.
As of now I'm most interested in getting feedback from users. I can't truly find all the bugs and that's where I need you. If you encounter anything unusual, please message me somehow with a description of the bug and a possible way to recreate it. Thanks.

What is ArtemisPS3?

How To Use
  • Please refer to the Installation file for installation and use instructions (or see below).

Installing Artemis PS3

  • Download the ArtemisPS3-GUI.pkg
  • Install it onto your PS3 (method to install depends on your CFW)

Installing cheat codes

  • Choose between installing the .ncl file on a flash drive or in the Artemis installation directory
  • For the flash drive make a new folder on the root called USERLIST
  • Inside the folder place any .ncl files inside it
  • Insert the usb drive into the right usb slot of your PS3 and launch Artemis PS3
  • For the installation directory method launch an FTP server on your PS3 (multiman)
  • Navigate to /dev_hdd0/game/ARTPS3001/USRDIR/USERLIST/
  • Place any .ncl files inside the folder and launch Artemis PS3

Using Artemis

  • Launch Artemis from the XMB and selected your codes
  • Once you have selected your codes Press X on Start in the main menu
  • You should hear a single beep (if you hear three MAMBA failed to install)
  • From here you can launch the game or launch homebrew to mount the game
  • Once you are ready to use your codes in the game, open the in game XMB by pressing the PS button
  • A notification should appear telling you to press L3 and R3 to attach (if this does not appear just wait a little)
  • HOLD L3 and R3 until Artemis says that it has attached
  • At this point any codes chosen to constant write will be constantly writing
  • For any single write codes you wish to write again, just enter the in game XMB again and hold L3 and R3

Creating cheat lists (.ncl)

  • NetCheat List Files are built into NetCheat PS3
  • Download and run NetCheatPS3
  • In the codes tab create a new code and name it as you wish
  • Within the textbox enter any NetCheat PS3 codes (or use the Codelist by clicking the square on the bottom left)
  • Finally click Save All and specify a save location for the new .ncl

Creating advanced cheat lists (.ncl)
New in Artemis PS3 is the ability to add option tags.
These tags enable you to specify options for a code that has multiple effects for one address.
Using tags instead of multiple codes condenses the overall cheats list.
The format for an option tag is very specific and must be used exactly as described.
A tag begin with brackets that surround an ID ([Z]).
This ID must be a collection of capital Z's.
For instance, a tag such as [ZZZZ] has an ID of ZZZZ. [zz] is not a valid ID.
Following the opening tag are the elements, or options.
Each element begins with the value that the option represents, an equal sign (=), and the name of the option.
Elements are separated by semicolons (;).
So right now an option tag would look something like this: [ZZ]0010=This is 0x10;0020=This is 0x20
But now we have to end the tag. To end an option tag you simply add a forward slash (/) in front of the ID and surround that with brackets ([/Z]).
Finally to actually implement this as a value for a code, simply put the ID of the tag anywhere in the code you'd like.
For instance, in Jak 1 there are 4 different types of eco states you can be in. Red, blue, green, and yellow.
Each uses the same line. So the appropriate code using option tags would be:
0 201FEE08 ZZ
0 201FEE18 FFFFFF7F
0 201FEE0C 00000040
[ZZ]01=Yellow;02=Red;03=Blue;04=Green[/ZZ]

Status
(Green = Complete / RED = Incomplete)

  • Install MAMBA and PS3MAPI payload (if not already installed)
  • Load artemis_ps3.sprx into VSH
  • Access codes from an online database
  • Access user codes
  • Allow for users to enter their own codes
  • Sorts codes and games alphabetically

  • ArtemisPS3-PRX - CELL SDK

Compiling

  • This has been built using a makefile and my VS Integration tools. Ideally, you'd use Visual Studio to run and compile as normal. However the command line will still operate functionally.

For the following, only selfs can be packaged and run.

  • Visual Studio
  • Build - Set mode to Debug. Build as normal (F6)
  • Run - Set mode to Debug. Run as normal (F5)
  • Package - Set mode to Release. Build as normal (F6)
  • Command Line
  • Build - make
  • Run - make run
  • Package - make pkg

Has there been any updates or news on NetCheat it self in awhile? The site is only been here since mid October (Official Opening), we cover things better in the scene then most anyone but we could of missed it. we are always adding past content to the site as well, but i know we have not touched any of the NetCheat stuff to this point other then this related release. As it takes time :) .. Yea not a bad idea to get more info here on it. Personally with NetCheat and most cheating things I am a bit noobish as i really do not use it much. So for me it may take me a bit to document some of the stuff but welcome anyone to contribue a thread in the forums and such.

Any chance someone could upload a big pack of them? My data plan ran out and I can't run the app from my cell at work. But if a pack was posted I could grab that here to use at home.

If you go here - Index of / - you can click ncCodes.zip at the end. It will download all of them in a zip file, you just have to add .ncl to the end of each one you want to use.

I hope you appreciate the GUI I attempted to recreate from your original work on the PS2. I always liked the look of it.

It's great (maybe except "ufo icon" ^^").

To be honest, I completely forgot about this app somewhere in (probably) 2010 when Jimmi left the scene and leave GUI for Artemis in draw form. Few years later, someone ask me for project file which I cleaned it and made public. And from this time rd/artemis was dead (or I am wrong?). It's nice to see that my work didn't waste, and You recreate it from hard to read previews and PSD. So of course I appreciate it!

Now I'm debating the logo change. I like the idea of maintaining the original though at the same time I also really like what you did..

:)
Problem with original logo is that is very small and semi-transparent at bottom. I have never got original artwork. I don't know which font ps2dragon used, so it could be hard to restore it.

I'd love to talk privately about the GUI components of Artemis. I'm not sure how much time you can invest but even something like that is impressive.

Well, not to many unfortunately but I already finished most of work so tomorrow I could show You polished stone. ;)

I seldom login to scene services but often use email, so if You have nothing against it, this is way which I prefer (I hate social media so I don't using FB/TW/Evil ;]).

Well I entered the scene a bit late (2012 or late 2011) and even then I don't recall much work being done on it. Misfire was still the clear lead developer (probably the last) but he left the scene after some incident I think. At this point the only ones developing for Artemis are root670 (PS2 GUI) and myself. It's a shame cause it has some awesome ideas that this, and really any, scene could use. But as always the issue is getting developers to do something for free or rather something that is a collaboration rather than a solo project (not trying to offend anyone, just a generalization (which I guess is a form of stereotyping and can therefore be an insult.. but heh well)). I just hope the future of Artemis follows whats happening now with you, where developers with something to offer to the project pitch in what they can to improve it. And what you've done so far is perfect btw. I'm glad it's going in the right direction so far.

:)

I know what you mean. Changing the logo text from Playstation 2 Hacking System to Cross Platform Hacking System took a ton of tweaks and still doesn't look right. I think we can change it but we should leave the XMB icon the original since it's the perfect size anyway. But if you could maybe try to recreate the staff and integrate that into a newer version of the original logo. Doesn't have to be the exact same I guess.
I actually attempted my own version of the staff awhile ago if you want it. I think I still got the Paint.NET source somewhere.

That's absolutely fine. My email is [email protected]. Email me when you can.
Also for anyone on COBRA I'd appreciate it if you could email me as well for testing purposes. I want COBRA support but I really don't want to switch to it.

Also I'm so glad you have the sub-menu system coded.. I couldn't figure out a good way to do it (without drawing the first menu then drawing the next one over it) so I gave up :/. Although my menu system probably isn't that great as it is anyway.
But I do love what you've done so far. I'm excited to see the result from your efforts. Thanks so much Berion.

Yeah great job on the article. You actually took the time and effort to read my post, go to the github page, and grab the appropriate info from there. Most sites don't really do a good job but I've never had to make one so maybe I shouldn't be talking.

Anyway I exclusively update the PS3Hax thread when new NetCheat updates are released. Not because I'm loyal or anything but I just don't like NGU (the alternative) and NC has an updater built in so it's more for people who haven't used it in awhile. Also gives people a chance to suggest things and whatnot. Anyway I can make a thread here in a couple weeks I guess. I actually try to be discrete about the updates cause I find it annoying to flood a news page with "v4.53" "v4.54" "v4.55" and all these small updates.

The only real NetCheat news recently has been 4.50 through 4.52. Which actually was a pretty big series of updates.

Thanks for the complements we try and make the necessary effort and we try and give all info possible this out of respect to the user's the developer and also the release it self. . It just the way it should be :). . You are right how some place do not do a very good job and that is because they simply do not care. It's obvious to see the places that care and the places who do not.

We would very much be appreciative to see a NetCheat thread but we also understand time is limited also (if we could just have 36 hour days :)). So take your time if you get a chance great and if not we understand. I will see what i can do as well :) . Keep up the great work, have been a fan of several of your other projects and contributions in the scene :). Thanks !!!!

Is there a reason the ncl files were not included? Is there any legal reasons? Would a preloaded pkg be OK to post with them?

Thanks for excellent homebrew...

Works perfectly on CFW rebug 4.70.1
I have tested a psn games Castle of illusion and it's ok ;)

[video=youtube;vIQ-ggvbYwo]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vIQ-ggvbYwo[/video]
I've deactivated cobra with Rebug tool, and still crashes my console as soon as i press Start on Artemis :( PS: im ob Rebug cex 4.70

In my opinion it will be better if app pkg include all ncl cheats. I don't see a reason why less than 1MB be a problem on at least 20GB HDD which PS3 have in stock on first models (and I believe all "power users" replace them for around 1TB :P). It's just unnecessary inconvenient as many users even don't know how to mass rename files...

I have also proposition to add option for reading cheats not only from $USRDIR but also from usb and hdd (just choosing path in options menu). It will be much easier to update them without update app. Or even move them back to PC if someone find some cheat (i.e I will experiment with grade on Tales of Vesperia - I f*ck hate this game+ system ;p, I don't have ftp connection to my PC (limited spaces in my room) so it could be handy if i just go with my pendrive to PC instead of rediging dev_hdd0/game/<artemis id>/usrdir/ and fighting with pc UI in multiman... ;p).

Also good idea is adding HIP file with changelog and/or help.

Hello, we renamed all over 1000 cheat and realized the PKG file, we also uploaded files individually for those who want to simply insert them into the USB port.

ArtemisPS3-GUI

unfortunately it seems that the PS3 console is not able to manage all 1000 cheat simultaneously (hangs clicking start) but you can load them individually each time serving

So that was the reason my console was crashing. I just put on USERLIST folder the .ncl file for Tekken Tag Tournament 2 and its working flawless on Rebug cex 4.70 (cobra off)

I'll be looking into that bug when I have time. I have a good idea on how to speed up the cheat loading process as well.

Next releases will include the NCL files since so many have asked. Thanks for your and whomever helped you's work

so I got all codes done (except BLJM), renamed to Title/ Version/ Title ID for better alphabetical sort & separated them into pkg installs by Title ID (regions)

Artemis PS3 Codes

Edit: also if you want to install them individually via ftp or file manager [strike]Artemis PS3 Codes.zip[/strike]
