PS2 ATADPatcher on PSX?

Hello, it's dazzaXx here. I've been going on and off here and during my off time, I decided to get a HDD Adapter for my FAT PS2. And while looking for some software for it, I came across a program called ATADPatcher, and it apparently has the ability to patch the OSD and drivers to allow non-genuine HDD's to be used? and on the supported patches it lists PSX Update discs.

Does this actually work on PSX's?

The link to the file itself is long gone but luckily wayback machine has saved it.

atadpatcher patches the security of the ATAD driver... however, the PSX is a different beast. you can patch ATAD all you want. but DVRP is still there to cut HDD power supply if the HDD doesnt respond to the sony security commands emmited by the console.

Only quick solution (for now) is to buy that 300 euro IDE emulator that appeared this year on internet
