PS3 Backup Utility failing, Can't find PSN messages files

So my PS3 has been acting weird since I updated to HFW 4.91, whenever I turn it off it'll beep three times no matter what, XMB will freeze at times, I get a black screen with sparkles (kinda like the XMB background just black and no wave) whenever I exit a game, in which there is no HDD activity and I have to force a shutdown. By the way I cannot find any information online about this black sparkles screen. Idk if I'm the only person experiencing it

I wanted to switch drives, however for whatever reason the Backup Utility is saying "An error has occurred (8001002A)."

I've decided I want to try rebuilding the database as this may help. I followed part of the Ultimate backup guide, in which I got my copylocked saves, however the problem is, I want to keep my psn messages as it has some from a friend of mine which I want to keep. Rebuilding the database would delete these.

I've backed up the whole /home/ of my dev_hdd0 and whenever I look through the friendim folders, there's nothing regarding these messages.

Here's what I need help with:

1. Where could these messages be?

2. Can someone help me with the Backup Utility failing?

3. In the event that I have to change drives, should I just copy over the user folders and the xRegistry file or do I have to do more than that?

I already read the guide but went through the thread and helped me with no. 3 and kinda with no.1 but not really with no. 2, or the black screen problem. I'll probably just make a full backup of the HDD but I'll lose those messages either way by rebuilding database
