Best option Ps3

Hi,
I purchased a second hand Ps3 phat CechG003.. Unfortunately already upgraded to 4.83.Obviously like the rest of world I'd like to use an exploit which isn't available. So reading through the forums and using the charts I gather my machine is nand and downgradeable..is my only option a downgrade?. If so am I better using teensy 2.0...or the E3 flasher?. Any help would be appreciated..
Thanks

Yes your only option is downgrade, without downgrade no exploit (So far).
I dont have any downgrading experience, but I dont think it matters what flasher you buy

At the minute your only option is to use a Hardware Flasher and do it the original way. Your Model PS3 is a NAND so you would need a Teensy Hardware Flasher, they support both NAND and NOR.

E3 Hardware Flashers are for NOR PS3's only.

I am pretty sure the latest version of PS3 Dumper Checker has a 4.83 No FSM patch based on Ferrox so you can install Ferrox 4.83 straight after patching the flash so you don't have to downgrade to 3.55 then back up.... but you would have to check that as I am not 100% sure on it...maybe 80% sure from when I was updating the version I have and checking it out.

But I prefer to downgrade all the way and have FSM ( Factory Service Mode ) as it has some useful features for fixing issues but they are not for people who don't know what the functions are as you can completely screw your PS3 up if things are improperly used.

As @Cypher_CG89 mentioned you can jailbreak it by "connecting" a hardware flasher to the motherboard
After that you have full read/write access to the flash, and you could write the "No FSM" patch for 4.83 to the flash, this allows you to pass directly from official firmware 4.83 ---to---> custom firmware 4.83

But explaining it is easyer than doing it :D

The E3 flashers are not compatible with NAND chips, you need to use a teensy that are very relliable and cheap
The problems you are going to face is in the PS3 models with NAND is very hard to solder the teensy (seriously, only try it if you have experience soldering and very good equipment)
Alternativelly you can use a NAND "clip" to avoid soldering in the PS3 motherboard... but anyway you will need to solder the clip to the teensy (this is easy though)
And this increases the price... you need a teensy + the NAND clip

Also, the PS3 models with NAND have 2 separated NAND chips (so you need to repeat the write/read processess 2 times)

---------------------
The other alternative is to wait for a software exploit on 4.83 but there is no estimated release time for something like this, and the waiting could take lot of time or not happen

I wasn't 100%sure on this, that's why I said for the OP to check it out first before doing anything. Thanks for the info. I remember bguerville mentioning it in another post and was scowering the threads looking for it for confirmation, but I couldn't find it lol. And I have just today downloaded the updated version of PS3 Dump Checker from the repo on github and was checking it out.

I didn't want to give a definite yes or no as I don't use these types of methods, I flash then downgrade all the way to 3.55 for FSM. I haven't even used or tried out the software xploit yet. Much prefer the E3 flasher for the reason i stated before and aslo the PS3 gets a well need clean out and the thermal paste replaced, all the parts checked and tested with a multimeter so its good to go and doesn't have to opened again for a while unless it develops a fault over time.

If u are A beginner of CFW don't try methods mentioned in comments if something goes wrong u can easily brick your PS3.

If you have a Hardware flasher and you have made backups of your original dumps you can unbrick your PS3. Any method will brick your PS3 if done incorrectly or steps missed out, such as validating the dump before and after.

Using a Flasher is the original way to jailbreak after OFW 3.55. Before this you could simply install the CFW PUP and that was it. This is why you downgrade to 3.55, but now there are whats called no FSM patches that allow you to install CFW straight after flashing the patched dump on 4.83.
