Hello! I recently got a mx4sio + freemcboot to use on my ps2 slim (79001 model) and im beyond lost on how to do this. From the videos i see im so confused if freemcboot is actually on the card i bought and if so i see people then changing it over to a magicgate 8mb memory card (which i do have one) So im very confused on the steps i need to do. and if anyone can point me in the right direction and possibly link a youtube video i would be greatful.

While you have Slim model, just use FDVDB as entry point to run eg. FMCB Installer from USB i.e from R4D. No need for buying garbage which you still need to reorganize or overwrite.

And instead buying MX4SIO, buy MMCE.

Im actually thinking about acquiring mx4sio aswell but i heard it will be like losing another slot for save files which is really annoy if your fmcb card already takes the other slot and is like only 8mb (still alot for back then but for someone who likes to keep all saves, might get a little worrying)
eitherway i heard mx4sio still has compatibility issues on some games
whats the diff with mmce?

Bon courage.

Indeed, the MX4SIO takes up a memory slot (the one on the right). You can still use the "VIRTUAL Memory Cards". Their size can be 8/16/32/64MB. You can transfer EVERYTHING to them using the game "Gran Turismo 3", which has a built-in "File Manager". I've done this myself, and it works very well.
Not all games are compatible with the MX4SIO, and the same issues apply to the MMCE. I have an MMCE, and I'm convinced of this through my tests. I've made a personal compatibility list, and it's strangely similar to the MX4SIO's (also personal).
Good luck.

Algol "le papy".

I wonder if there will be an all in one device that can do that and like... have all games compatible but i guess this is great enough. Im on smb ethernet method and for now. it's doing good so far

You will not only not loose anything but gain. MMCE is hardware card emulator which means 100% compatibility with games (VMC feature in OPL/NTR have not 100%). You can in the same time, use MMCE as emulator and storage from which you will play disc images. Plus, microSD card contents are easily manageable on PC side (i.e you cannot loose exploit on mc and worrying about entry point because you can just put back memory card image on microSD). Plus, MMCE is faster than MX4SIO and have higher compatibility (but needs fast SPI card, or else your experience will be mediocre at best).

There is currently no sense in using PS2MC, PSXMC and MX4SIO while MMCE surpassed them all in one device.

The only obstacle here is price, due to how high taxes and sending from China can be for your country and location.
