PS3 Blu-ray drive problem on superslim

Hi everybody!

I have a superslim (OFW 4.85) with a problem: it can read CDs and DVDs but no Blu-Ray. I think it's a laser problem, right?
Can I install PS3HEN or I'll get stuck during HFW update?
Can I run backups/homebrews if I successfully install PS3HEN? Or will I get an error due to bad drive?
