PS3 Bricked PS3 During downgrade

Hello,
I tried to downgrade my PS3 About 5 years ago and ended up bricking it in the process and threw it in storage to collect dust as I thought it had no hope.

Now that I know a thing or two, thought I would try and fix it.

From what I remember the console switched off during patching which bricked the console.
I had made successful backups (which I no longer have) and did all the compatibility checks
The console would switch on for 2 seconds and make a tick noise and lose all power.
The console was on firmware 4.82 and the model number of the PS3 is CECH-2503B

I have soldered a wire to the tristate and the console now stays powered on.
I no longer have the original dump and I lost the sd card when I threw the console into storage years ago.

When I take a backup from the NOR and put the file into PS3 Dump Checker, it comes back with 77 out of 135 bad files. I have tried 10 backups and they all come back looking the exact same.

Is there any hope for this console or am I just wasting my time with it?

Thanks in advance!

Since the per console data seems to be lost you might be hosed. I would give it a shot either way. Patch the Nor and flash it and give it a shot.

If the CoreOS was properly written you may still be able to dump the NOR and get the rest of the files that aren't unique to your system. I know I did this years ago when I had a brick flashing.

CoreOS was 100% written properly. Would you know how I can get the rest of the files?

I get alot of bad files when I patch the NOR, I dont want to try flash that and end up with a perma brick

Maybe you could rebuild the dump with a donor dump?:sco hmmthink:
I certainly do not have the skills to rebuild a dump to be honest. The only thing I have is another working ps3 with the same model number. But from what I know I cant use the NOR dump from that on mine without modifying it which I have no idea how to do.

It probably had hope 5 years ago and would have been a good time to jump the topic because there were alot more helping hands at that time, not that there are none now but thread replies were like 10-1 in comparison to now.

So console stays powered on after tristate solder? Any video coming from it? I would think that if you can boot it and get to XMB that you would be able to re-install a .PUP via System Update in Settings menu or Safe Mode. But with no video, then no luck...

I'm noticing that psdevwiki is currently down? (for me at least) because I was going to check CFW compatibilities per model.

If all else fails, could he wipe the HDD and start with a fresh firmware after copying it to blanked HDD using SATA? or whatever. It's not my field of expertise but I have watched alot of people choose this road more than re-installs even.

Also, when you said you are worried about perma-brick, it makes me think you have semi or soft-brick which means you should still be able to access, view and navigate recovery mode unless it is actually straight up hard-brick.

Don't have any display when its on, and it wouldn't be anything to do with the hhd as the issue is the boot sequence which is all stored in the NOR chip. The console aint perma-bricked as I can still read off the NOR chip and if I did have the original dump I would be able to get it going again, but I don't so I cant.
I haven't yet tried to access recovery mode I can give that a try.
By the sound of it my only option is to rebuild the dump but I have no experience doing that and cant find any good videos that show how to do it.

With a bit of browsing iv manage to rebuild most of the dump, got a few more to go but currently stuck with this one :

Result of the check: False
Offset checked: 0x2F080
Length checked: 0xAF0
Everything should be less then 12.00%
Actual date:
0x00 : 0.07%
0x0B : 0.04%
0x12 : 0.04%
0xFF : 99.86%

Dump the nor before anything and you can always go back to where your at. So it doesnt hurt to try to patch and flash nor like I stated b4.
