other causes could be , according to other sources :
This looks like the pieces that make up the disc (the data side and the clear glossy layer) were not glued together correctly when the disc was manufactured, or maybe the adhesive was low quality. I've seen this happen to discs on the inside, in the area where the hole is, but it's never reached the data layer.
But since this is happening from the outer edge, then it definitely means something bad is happening.

or
A transparent layer has delaminated and peeled off by itself from the disc surface.

I think it would be more straightforward just by grabbing the og disc , do a 1:1 .iso copy and then burn the .iso onto a blank disc.
You dont need to do that. If you have game in jb formát just make ISO with Ps3 ISO tools and Burnout to disc. They Will be playable still only on cfw.

Actually i tried to install it on my HDD again, and lord and behold, the disc cannot be installed, so ill have to wait for the PLAYSTATION HITS to drop off for 20 quid to replace the disc, at the moment its 40,so tomorrow should drop to 20,on PSN already is 20 quid, but i won't buy it Digitally, i despise digital content.

Ill just use this one as a Frisbee to throw around.

That disc is exposed to heat like some coffee has been spilled on it.
If it was it could have been worst, fortunately no coffee was spilled, so no disc was coffee abused, although i must confess, i do drink a lot of coffee, specially when I am working on Projects around the clock. [emoji23]

No, You cannot. For the same reason why You cannot write few disk images on the same disk. What You can do is put disc images in file system space, such disc will be recognized as Data Disc, and You can probably access its content from file manager level. Or as @arcadekidflo suggesting, creating PS3_EXTRA disc with games closed into PKG.

So... first read how to create "PS1 Classics", then read how to create PS3_EXTRA discs. Assemble this knowledge, and You will get user friendly way to install PSX games from DVD.

If it will fit, probably yes. Debug PS3 games on valid debug kits normally works from DVDs, so probably Cobra also allows to run them from DVD instead of BD.

Hi, sorry for the bump but I figured it'd be better to continue a thread than create an identical one.

I'm trying to burn a game from a directory to BD-R and seems like the PS3 doesn't recognize it at all. The PS3 is on Rebug 4.84.2 DEX.
Unfortunately I don't have the original ISO, only extracted directory.

Are there any specific settings I need to use in ImgBurn?

You cannot burn from directory. Magic number and sector count will be missing and that's why PS3 reject it. You must first create PS3 *.iso from it i.e by Hermes's makeps3iso, available compiled on Buncanero's github repository (however, You've lost LBA order, so expect slowdowns in extreme cases) and then You can burn it by any burn software. Disc content must be decrypted.

Worked after I created an ISO using Multiman.
Is there a tool that can create PS3 ISOs on PC?

Unless you want to preserve your original copies, then yes, you can burn them in BD-R Format, although personally i dont use Nero, i recommend ImgBurn, gets the job done much easier than Nero.

If the PlayStation3 has CFW,then yes BD-R Backups will be totally playable, just like a standart Debug Unit, i know PS1 and PS2 Backups can be executed, i believe PlayStation3 Format are playable as well.

No, it does not work this way 1. You can't just willy nilly burn retail iso dumps because they are encrypted and the bd drive cannot read the key to decrypt them from the ROM mark (they are meant to run on ODE or from HDD)
2. You can't just burn masterdiscs to play them on a retail bluray drive, the drive needs a specific dex flag to allow masterdiscs (which are also encrypted with the masterdisc key), so you can't just pop them in a retail unit even with cfw because the bd drive firmware will not decrypt the content and will not flag them as ps3 discs (they will show as data disc only)

The Bluray drive firmware has not been hacked so you cannot make a retail firmware work with masterdiscs, if you want to play burned ps3 discs, you need to generate the iso as a masterdisc iso (using ps3gen from the sdk), burn the disc (on DVD-R or BD-R) and play them ON A DEX unit! (ie. a DECH or a DECR unit), it has to be a legit one, not a retail convert, retail converts will NOT play masterdiscs (or allow HDCP to be turned off).

But PS3 with recent versions of Cobra read BD-Rs without any issue and will even boot PS3 games from DVD-R (assuming they fit).

How recent? I tried playing a ps3 masterdisc on a retail 4.84 Rebug firmware (for the heck of it) and obviously it did not mount. (whereas it works fine on DEX even when running 4.84.2 D-REX)
