Can DLC/Updates be integrated into PS3 ISOs?

Hi everyone.
I am using PS3 ISO format for my games. For example, the game : Resident Evil 6 :

Is there please a way to update the ISO, and download game updates and DLCs (via PC), and integrate them into the ISO itself (without having to install PKG). So that when we launch the ISO using web-man we get the latest version with all DLC.

Thanks.

Never heard anything like that...but who khows...

no it can not. i have already asked. you can only create extrax directory on iso with ps3 tools. but you still need to install them. only diference is you will have what you need in iso and it will appear as another icon in xmb menu when you load the iso.

What you can do is integrate all update pkgs into one pkg and then include that in the root of the ISO or in the ISO inside a "packages" folder. Then you can just use Package Manager to install it when the game is mounted. Or integrate all updates into one and then create the PS3 Extra menu for it.

If you convert an ISO game to run from dev_hdd0/game/ aka "CFW2OFW" style then you can integrate all updates afaik.

PS3 Tools Collection by @aldostools has a tool for creating this.

Hi, I'm brand new to the forum, but I can't seem to find an answer to my question. I've been trying for many hours, but I just can't get it to work.

Here's the deal: I've got a decrypted ISO (working fine on my PS3), along with the only game update and a bunch of DLCs.
I use "PS3 ISO TOOLS 2.2" to extract the ISO, and it seems to be OK:
+-------------+--------------+--------------+----------------------+-----------------------+-------------+
| SIZE(MB) | SIZE(MB) | DIFF(MB) |FILES/FOLDERS|FILES/FOLDERS| STATUS |
| [Folder] | [ISO] | | [JB-Format] | [ISO-Format] | |
+-------------+--------------+--------------+----------------------+-----------------------+-------------+
| 4339.97 | 4342.44 | 2.47 | 523/15 | 523/15 | OK |
+-------------+--------------+--------------+----------------------+-----------------------+-------------+

So, I end up with a folder containing subfolders "PS3_GAME" and "PS3_UPDATE"
(In "PS3_UPDATE" there's already a file PS3UPDAT.PUP).

I throw all my PKG files (5 files) into the "PS3_UPDATE" folder.
Next, I fire up "PS3 Tools Collection > Create PS3_EXTRA" pointing it to the root folder that has the game and everything.

I see a checkbox with my game's name, its logo, and "5 Items" which matches with my PKG files. Everything at the bottom is checked (PS3_UPDATE, PS3_CONTENT, PS3_GAME\PKGDIR), and when I hit "START" a popup shows up instantly:
"Done.
0 games modified: 0 new items."

So, nothing's changed, and I'm stumped. Any ideas where I'm going wrong?

If anyone is interested (yet by the end of 2024 when everyone is on PS4 and PS5 lmao), the OP question can indeed be achieved for some games at least with DLCs. Updates seems to be more difficult as some files would need to be fixes. I have managed to integrate DLCs of:
  • Alien Isolation (All DLC)
  • Batman The Telltale Series (Episodes 2-5)
  • Need for Speed Hot Pursuit (All DLC)
There is not straight forward method to integrate DLCs, but it goes like this:
  • For Alien, the game reads the content direct on the ISO file if some of the .edat files are on the HDD; some DLC seems to have native compatibility so no problem at all.
  • For Batman, you have to put the files in the ISO the same way they install on HDD, but the .edat files have to be in the HDD. I integrated those with the update in a PKG which I placed in "INSDIR", that way the game will always ask to install the update and the episodes 2-5.
  • For NFS, the process was kinda similar to Batman but the game won't start if the updates aren't installed, which forced me to place updates in a PKG in INSDIR.
As you can see, you just have to tweak something here and there and the game may try to access the DLC right on the disc. Some games wont at all or maybe I didn't find how, like Resident Evil 6 and Call Of Duty Black Ops.

Fastest way to try variations is using PS3Netsrv, which allows you to mount JB folder as virtual ISOs to try it out from an external NTFS HDD.

If someone find this post useful and manage to integrate more games into the ISOs, please share.
