Can I HDD swap same version CFW ps3 HDD’s?

Forum Noob
I have 2 ps3 slim CECH-2503B date code 1A, both the exact same 320gb model running evilnat 4.88.

I broke the last one with all my games and homebrew on trying to delid the rsx.

To save myself time reinstalling the games and homebrew, can i just swap the HDD's?
Or will the new PS3 detect a hardware change and format the drive, even though everything else in the system should be identical?

Is there a way to swap same version cfw HDD's and is it safe?

You can't swap HDD as there is a unique encryption each system does when a new HDD is used and makes the previous HDD no longer register. If you have the eID root key you can dump the data on your PC but you can not write to it.

downgrade your firmware to rebug 4.84.2 rex
on debug mode you can exchange your hdd as same version

And then i could upgrade back to 4.88.2 evilnat right? Anyway am just curious but i think ill stick to the good old fashioned redownload everything approach

Thanks for all the info, I appreciate that
