Can i install CFW without having to use ps3xploit.me?

I wonder if it's possible to install cfw rn even though the ps3xploit website is dead.

There's no safe way to do it at this point in time, unless your PS3 is running 4.85 FW or earlier. kostirez1 and I are currently testing an updated 4.89 software flasher though, but we ran into some problems and I can't say for sure when it will be finished.

Not necessarily, I'd like more people to test initialization success rates and the flash dumper which I will update for 4.89 too. You don't need to write the patch to be helpful.

Due to built-in checks, you can test on any PS3 model. Just don't try to make changes to force flashing on a model that's not compatible with CFW. Also, if you don't want to test the writer on a CFW compatible model because you don't have a flasher, you don't need to, and I don't want you to.

Although lmn7 already said that it is not necessary, it would be handy if the test consoles have a hardware flasher to be able to recover it in case something goes wrong. Specially to do a full test of the whole process.
