PS3 Can I remove PS3 4K Pro Theme?

A friend recently gave me a modded PS3 and it has PS3 4K Pro Theme installed on it. He didn't install the theme himself so is rather clueless about it.

I am not a huge fan of this theme, can I simply delete this theme but still have the current setup and games running as they are?

This means the console has been converted to DEX and has CCAPI installed if it black screens on apps and stuff as if it was CEX it would work. CCAPI is what make 's blackscreen on DEX.

Reinstall the CFW is only way to remove it now. So in this case it would be a REBUG D-REX version not REX.
 
Cypher_CG89 if you read this im getting the same error but i resetted my ps3 after that theme becuz i had ccapi too installed but now if i wanna install something its greyed out and in recovery mode it doesnt even show up and i tried different usb's. my filemanger and homebrew apps are gone but its still jailbroken plzz help me :)
 
Bro eversince I installed the 4kpro
I can't launch any of my games, and my hen disappear, if I try to launch my games it will take me to update software 4.88 and my software is already 4.88

Before if I check my settings it will show cfw 4.88, but now it doesn't show cfw only 4.88

I know you can help me because you are the only on that makes firmware for ps3

Are you sure that your problem is caused by the 4k theme and not by other features of the ps3pro mod or other customisations you made?
If it's not caused by the 4k theme, you should create your own thread and use the mention system to notify LuanTeles automatically.

FYI
Nobody who intervened in this thread is a CFW maker and neither is the maker of the XMB mod you are using.
In fact, currently there's not a single active PS3 CFW maker left in the scene, they all retired or just vanished, so unless Nat reappears, we may wonder who will pick up that job when 4.89 gets released.

When a need arises there is a solution around the corner. if not we would not be here talking about what will happen to 4.89
We have seen the torch passed from many devs dating back from 3.41. Think about all the names we have seen come and go and sometimes come back when needs arise and new developer's emerge.

We are in a landscape where the PS3 is not the main console anymore so less developer's potentiality but also more documentation and lots of work done for others to pick up and much easier then it was before.

I don't disagree with anything you say, merely wondering who will pickup that torch as the answer is not so obvious.

Seems like you chose the CFW version instead of the HFW one in the installer.


You have two options

1. Go to File Manager > Settings > Uninstall.

The system will reboot and restore the official firmware files back then you'll need to reinstall HEN again, as the option presumes you are on CFW.

Or

2.

*Via ftp go to dev_hdd0/ and delete the following files: boot_init.txt and autoexec.bat

Then reinstall the HFW and install HEN normally, if you are willing to install the mod again, make sure to select your Jailbreak type, in your case HFW option.

*That step is needed because webman mod will try to restore the mod files back.

I can't/don't speak with a voice of authority and I'm not known in this community...I post every so often but I mostly read and copy/paste what I need to my personal PS3 HowTo. I joined the site in Jan of 2019 but had been reading and lurking way before then. It's not that long ago but back then there was a plethora of devs still creating/updating their projects. While it's true it may seem like a desert, I have no doubt that the scene will continue and at some point will experience a renaissance. As STLcardsWS stated, the PS3 documentation is one of the best out there and anyone who likes to tinker and code will find what they need to get going.

Now a brief sentence regarding something that most don't like / don't want to hear...if you use a particular devs projects, send them a donation. I like to view it as a way of saying thanks and helping out with hosting costs. They provide everything to us for free so helping to pay their hosting costs is a good trade off...at least in my book.
We already saw how shitty it is when something closes down...perfect example is the Rebug site going the way of the dodo.
 
luan plzz help i chose cfw instead of hfw in ps3 4k pro and now it can't boot and says the system software cannot be run correctly. Will I have to install firmware again? and will my data still be there if i do so???

Just reinstall your fw, you won't lose anything
