I know is 2023 but I want keep some of my games (small games because I have Verbatim 12cm 700mb) on cd, I can lose usb drive or something else so here is my question: is possible to use CD-R (not blu-ray) to burn and play ps3 games on hen/cfw? I using hen also do I need specific game format or it can be even iso and what if windows ask about usage should I pick use like usb flash drive or use with cd/dvd player

you can use cd or dvd. i burned several ps3 games to dvd long ago and they worked fine. i think dvd+r does not work. burnt discs may wear out the laser quicker.

@arcadekidflo they can be recycled, but not by the usual means. you can not just put them in with your regular plastic recyclables.

Support for burned PS3 games was added on 2017:

PS3 games can be burned to regular CD-R, DVD-R SL/DL, BD-R SL/DL, BD-RE :)

There is no need for game manager (multiMAN/IRIS/etc) or for webMAN/MOD when launching PS3 games from burned discs. The only requirement is that the disc is properly created (unencrypted, from proper ISO or from game folder using genps3iso_v2.0) - the only check is that at sector 16 (0x10) offset 0x28 there must be a "PS3VOLUME" string.

What ps3 game is small enough for a cd-r? Even ps2 was using dvd's for storage and most are over 2gb
minecraft ps3 edition (before any updates) and indie games but sadly indie games was mostly digital like race the sun for example.

Ducktales!!! all retail ps3 discs are bluray but quite a few good games will fit on dvd or cd. they were blurays only because sony made it mandatory.

I got Duck Tales from the PSN store a long time ago. Beat a few levels but not the whole game yet. So many Disney side-scrollers out there.
