PS3 Can two or more PS3's be connected together over a WAN.?

I've seen them, I also tried Wipeout HD, but sadly all your old progress doesn't exist anymore on those servers. And I need to know how to play this again, it's called "xkai link"

in the games i played, killzone 2 for instance ( cant wait for killzone 3 to be reimplemented ) all i had to do was use my old save data. if you dont have your old save data, any save can be converted. psone kz2 servers do not have the ability to use clans or upgraded badges/weapons etc, but if you edit your save ( which it seems they do not mind at all ), you can reinstate those clan functions and manage the clan privately instead of using the old killzone servers. its a cheap work around but it works and isnt cheating.

it was my understanding that your progress is not on a server (could be wrong though as a lot of games do sync progress, but there is still a local copy of the progress and i am not positive why it would drop your progress. maybe it is a function they have not been able to implement yet, or maybe they havent had time to implement it because they are working on bring back multiple games. but even if you lose progress, atleast you are able to still play it online!

i did, however, message psone discord to notify them that this game (Blur Powered up Racing) was recently taken offline. hope they add it to the list of games soon for yall, as that would be the easiest option to just switch dns to psone servers. good luck.

check this: https://amax-emu.com/how_to_play

maybe the better way since it wouldnt require anything other than what is listed in that link? this seems to be the easiest way to get back online without involving openwrt or any vpn etc. just go through thte list in the link, log in and play. good luck! ( note: will require a pc, but maybe somehow someone can get it to work on ps3? i will see what i can find out from their discord community )

to add to my last message, it seems that they are, and have been, working on bringing ps3 compatibility to allow ps3 and pc players to play together. so stay tuned to https://amax-emu.com/how_to_play

maybe with ps3 servers going offline, it will make them work a little faster on bridging ps3 and pc players on their servers. either way you go about it though, good luck!

edit: i will share quoted response without username (because privacy etc), but this is what was said:
I believe theres a work in process about creating Amax server for PS3 to be able to play with PC players all together
There are testings already

so hopefully it won't be long, and maybe the game going officially offline on ps3 will speed up the process of them adding ps3 compatibility a bit!

@aldostools, do you know if it's possible to implement a VPN client to PS3? If it's possible, I'll try to create one just to let the topology a little bit easy to play LAN games (over WAN).
In theory, anything is possible, but I believe there would be a few obstacles in your way, socket programming is quite limited on the PS3, this wouldn't be casual coding, afaik the PS3 GameOS is not VPN ready by a long shot, if ever you wish all PS3 wan comms to go through VPN tunnelling, you will probably end up having to write a kernel payload or extend Cobra, iirc something like openvpn relies on tun/tap kernel drivers and packet filters, I don't think you will find everything you need available natively, and depending on the VPN protocol you wish to use, you may find it extremely difficult or just difficult (lol) to reuse or port existing code.
If I am not mistaken, getting a kernel payload to offer VPN tunnelling system wide would probably be on the same level of difficulty as bringing support for NTFS partition mounting system wide.

It might be more circonvoluted BUT I believe a lot easier to set up some kind of port forwarding with a VPN connection either at router/modem level or through a local server you dedicate to this.

hopefully within the next week or two the game will be playable again. atleast in the link above there is already a large community of people playing, and if i am understanding everything, there will be pc <=> ps3 cross compatibility. seems like the best option to me imho. give it a little time

The first and last time I tried to get in Wipeout's servers with my main account, I wasn't able to connect, at all. That's why I thought it was something to do with the save data. When I used another virgin account, I had no issues to connect.

The sad thing is that I only needeed that stupid trophy where you need to be in a race with everyone using the same silver skin lol. Something difficult..

Blur, U2/3 and TLOU were AMAZING. KZ3 online was good too, but with less addiction :D

The other online where I was a lunatic was MGO, but it died, then it came back but it wasn't the same anymore for me.

kz3 was my jam. kz2 is good, and is back online as well with psone servers, but i played only kz3 once it came out. didnt have another reason to really have a ps3 tbh. maybe GOW but i never could get into TLOU or other shit like this. but kz3 was the sole reason for me owning a ps3. maybe psone developers will bring kz3 back online soon.
