PS3 Can't enter into debug settings

Hey ^^

A friend gave me his PS3 FAT as a gift. It was already equipped with CFW (Rebug 4.84). Since the system was pretty messed up, I installed Evilnat 4.89 and then did a factory reset.
Interestingly, I got an error code when I tried to log into the PSN (80023154). I read online that maybe the debug settings were messed up, but they don't open with the key combination. I also noticed that the option to install updates from the HDD itself is not available. This all seems strange to me, as I have set up almost everything in the same way on my Slim and both the Debug settings and the update via HDD work there. Is there anything I can do to get the PS3 running normally again? Is there way to reset the debug settings?

What "factory reset" means?

In debug settings You can set the network type which shouldn't be changed from retail (forgot the exact name). But it doesn't matter as You are not on DEX fw or run DEX vsh.

Debug settings is not something which You turning on or showing on by button combo. It is part of debug XMB and it is displayed by default.

I'm not familiar with Evilnat CFW so I don't know from which locations he reading packages. Normally, the official way is only from root of USB but scene mods adding other, like e.g Rebug team added "dev_hdd0/packages/".

What normally means for You? From what You said, everything works normally.

It doesn't as I can't log into PSN and some other weird behaviors. There is a button combination to unlock debug settings, which also works on my Slim with Evilnat 4.89. The reason why I want to unlock debug settings is that they are maybe messed up and cause problems. At least that is what Reddit says. Reason enough to give it a try.

And with Factory Reset I mean the option "Restore PS3 System".

Plenty of people cannot on OFW 4.89, so for me seems normal. ;) I don't see any reason why You can't log in, but I'm not an expert, I've stopped using SEN since 3.55, and just one time on some 4.xx to just sync my trophies. Maybe this CFW blocks SEN, I dunno, read whole release notes for this specific CFW in this specific version, maybe there is an answer.

So it is unknown to me. On DEX and DECR OFW/CFW, and on Rebug Rex/D-Rex, debug settings are visible without any voodoo.

According to psdevwiki, error 0x80023154 = Invalid console ID.

It looks like your console still has a Product Code 0x82 (debug) in the Console ID (IDPS)

Try spoofing the ID to a IDPS for CEX of your same model *or* enable QA flags, downgrade to 4.84, reinstall Rebug REX 4.84.2 and use Rebug Toolbox to make sure that you switched to CEX mode. Then install Evilnat 4.89.2 BETA.

Console is fully in CEX mode. I can't see any hint that the IDPS is spoofed. It begins with "0000000100890008".
Is there a way that the previous owner could permanently modify the IDPS in flash? Could the error be something else?

Btw, I've fully formatted the HDD now and reinstalled Evilnat. Still the same error. :/

You can try spoofing the IDPS with webMAN MOD. It does not change it permanently. Only in memory.

Also you can make a dump of LV1 to check if there are different IDPS values.

LV1 dump seems to be a good idea. Ofc it would be an idea to just spoof both IDs, but it would be way more comfortable to get the real IDPS of the console.

I think I found the problem. I've downgraded to 4.81 and compared the IDPS with Console ID manager. The IDPS is infact spoofed. Problem is now that the software crashes when I try to restore the original IDPS. Would be great to use it as it seems way easier then other options to me. :/

IDPSet developed by Zar to changes permanently your IDPS on CFW 4.88 and below.

Let me warn you that messing with the flash could brick your console. Specially if there were unknown changes from other sources. I do not take any responsibility of any damage that could result using this tool.

That worked, thank you. Unfortunately, the console is banned, so the whole process was not worth it. Kind of expected it as there is no reason for an IDPS change with a perfect working console.

Could I use the PSID and IDPS from my PS3 Slim on it? I wouldn't use both consoles simultaneously.
