PS2 Can't get HDD working

Hello, a few months ago I stole my PS2's hard drive to store some important data. After some time I stopped using it and decided I wanted to install it on my PS2 again, but I am having some troubles. My clone GameStar SATA adapter "works": u/wLE reads the hard drive fine and gets the size correctly and appears to format the drive fine but when I restart the ps2 or swap between uLE and wLE the format is gone and HDD Status is 1

I tried to fix this on my own like using the Raw HDD copy method but the PS2 won't boot from it.
On a desperate attempt, I tried buying a used official PS2 network adapter from CeX and swapping the SATA board from the GameStar to the official one and the hard drive does spin up, but the adapter doesn't work at all? There isn't a fan spinup like it's supposed to be (the GameStar adapter does make the fans spin up) and I tried to test the network capabilities with Jak X but the leds on the back don't turn on and the game says that the necessary hardware wasn't found.

I have tried this across two PS2s (Black SCPH-30004 R and Gray SCPH-50004) and both have the same result. wLE returns status -19 and says hard drive isn't connected or formatted

Can somebody help me out here?? Am I doing something wrong? I have made sure to use the GameStar's ribbon instead of the original

I'm experiencing a similar issue and have also posted a thread detailing my troubleshooting steps. I have two network adapters that throw a -19 no matter what I plug into them, and a new third hdd adapter shipping. I doubt it's really the problem, though. Did you end up finding a solution? Were your adapters just malfunctioning?

I have a problem like this before and I managed to fix it. If the hdd status is -19, try checking the fuse number PS9 and PS10 on the motherboard, usually one of them is broken so the PS2 cant read your hdd.
