CECHA to DECHA

ps06

Forum Noob
Hello I have a dead ps3 test decha motherboard and i bought a working donor cecha with the same board number 1-871-868-12 i can solder but i have no clue how ps3 software works so can someone tell me please which chips i need to resolder to a working motherboard from a dead ?

Other question is i have another DECHA00 1-871-868-12 with ylod and a working 1-871-868-22 motherboard from CECHA01 will it work after resoldering components to a working board? because how i understand it has some changes

You could start with the syscon method to see what errors the dech is throwing out to get an idea of what needs repaired on it. Could be a few things but I'd bet it's in need of a reball on the rsx. No way to know for sure until you try the syscon. It'd be interesting to see what it tells as I believe no one has posted any results for a dex console yet.
the hardware needed is cheap for this. The thread is diagnosing syscon, first steps and error reporting. Start there.

There is probably no point breaking a working CECHA just to fix a broken DECHA. You can just convert the CEX console so it will allow you to install DEX firmware, this will only require you to jailbreak it and then use Rebug Toolbox to convert to DEX.

The only difference in the hardware is that on a DECH console you can toggle the HDCP on the HDMI output, other than that they are the same hardware.

You could just put the CECH motherboard into the DECH case, convert it to DECH firmware and it would basically be the same thing as fixing it.

well i bought it for parts from a guy,but he tried to reflow rsx with a heat gun and warped a board, firstly it had green light of death and after heating it had ylod, so i decided that easier would be to buy a working cecha and use it as a donor but i will try to read errors from a syscon because i have another DECHA with ylod and if i get any results i will post it here. thank you

oh, i didn't know that i can convert from a jailbroken to an OFW DEX firmware, thank you very much, i will look about it more

i like the fact about DECHA that it can upscale ps2 games to 1080p and play any region games without jailbreaking ps3
i'm ready to sacrifice 2 boards of CECHA to try to convert them to DECHA so how do you think maybe it will be enough just to resolder only 2 NAND flash chips from DECHA ? i can try to resolder only NAND but i'm afraid to brick ps3

sorry for my english, i hope you understood me :D

The hardware is the same, so DECH is no better at playing PS2 games than a CECH. You can just convert to DEX and it will be exactly the same apart from the HDMI controller (HDCP setting is the only difference).

There is more to it than that, its a big job, you would need to transplant at least the 2 NAND chips, the CPU and the syscon chip. Maybe more.

ohh, it's sad that CPU is needed to be resoldered because i don't have bga rework station.. i thought it will be enough to transplant only nand chips, syscon and other smaller chips which don't require rework station, so i had a hope to make it work again... thank you very much for your reply again, then i will try to convert it to DEX as you said
