Hi everyone,
Recently i bought badly damaged CECHC ps3 that did not react to power button as a repair project for cheap. After disassembling it, i just touched the power button on board, but the console instantly died and required unplugging from power for standby light to return.
The shields and psu itself are dented a little bit, but there is no noticable damage on the board itself, so i swapped a power supply from my other CECHG ps3, and it started blinking red light, but not died so with me thinking it was complaining about missing components, I attached fan and some daughter boards and it came to life.
HDMI seems to be broken, but i managed to get to the XMB on the composite cables with CRT TV. After like 5mins of browsing XMB console instantly shutdown, so i waited like 5 mins and it booted again fine, with message that it was powered off incorrectly, but after seconds on that screen it died again, and now its back to state that i begun with, even with new power supply.
Its old PSU might be broken, even after turning off with a switch behind console it needs a couple of minutes to be ready to display standby, while new works fine after on/off switch cycle. I also tested the new(G) PSU with my G ps3 and it is still working fine.
Now that I am browsing ps3devwiki i see that CECHC ps3 are much more power hungry than CECHG ones, and I've been thinking if swapping it at coming to this error might done some permanent damage. It is also possible that shield moved a little and its creating a short again (somehow? maybe it touched my soldered syscon wires), and i was wondering if just the swap might killed it.
I'm not in home for a couple of days, and I've been thinking about my next move, and if I can still use G PSU for testing.
Any advice is much apprecieted, take in mind its only fun project and i might be able to take some riskier/temporary steps to revive it, and if its dead forever i'll probably okay too.
Thanks in advance for all replies ^^
