PS3 CECHG01 stuck in firmware 3.41

UPDATE: managed to flash @littlebalup 's 3.55 fsm patch to my NANDs. It cannot boot normally but I can enter recovery menu. It asks for system 3.56 or later, if I chose update PS3 system.

UPDATE2: Normal boot will result in going straight to red light(no beeping, no YLOD) after a few seconds. Then I tried every other options in the recovery menu(restore default settings, restore file system, restore PS3 system). They all just go straight to red light without beeping, without YLOD, except "System Update" that proceeds to the firmware update screen(3.56), but sadly it's still a data corruption(8002F157) error.

You'll need a psgrade dongle to enter FSM and install 3.55 OFW using proper lv2diag.self from USB.
But before that, you should try nofsm patch and 4.89 cfw first. It 's a bit strange the recovery claims for 3.56. If it's a syscon panic reporting the minimum version it may be kind of refurbished and the 3.55 will not work.
If you can share the full ps3dumpchecker log, I may see if it's refurbished.

As usual here to save the day. Still use the one you patched for me a few years ago when I have issues. Me & n00bzilla had a heck of a time with it.

It looks like not refurbished.
Teensy can act as a psgrade dongle. Even arduino I think. Search the psgroove project. Should be available on github or even somewhere here.

You can use a PSP & TI-84 scientific calculator can also be used. Heck you can even use PIC chip or any AT90 USB. They even have a port for older iPod or anything that supports Rockbox. There are even Android ports as well. I have used the PSP before myself.

Thanks everyone. I will need to reflash the console back to its original nand firmware then use the teensy psgroove to be able to install packages. For now I've managed to compiled the psgroove and load it to one of my teensy++ 2.0(rare! :)). Will post the result later.
 
UPDATE: luckily I have managed to load psgroove teensy on boot. It shows *Install Packages menu in XMB. Do I go straight to install 3.55 OFW or shall I do the procedure described here(https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/Downg...er#Reinstall_firmware_in_Factory_Service_Mode) but swap the PUP with official 3.55 OFW?

UPDATE2: It looks like I can never go into factory service mode using psgroove. *Install Packages does show up but never seen the big red FACTORY SERVICE MODE on the bottom right. I installed a package called Factory Service Mode v0.2 and it doesn't seems to work(started, ended, reboot to XMB, no red banner).

OK. I figured out to enter FSM you have to use teensy flashed with PSGrade, not psgroove(which only allows you to install pkg). So compiled and use PSGrade, I successfully enter FSM with the red banner on the right bottom.

Placed the Lv2diag.self and 3.55 OFW in the USB, boot the PS3, HDD does NOT flash(which is different from what's described), after a long time of silence(2-3 minutes), the power led flashes green. Turn off PS3 and it won't boot(straight to red power led after about 10 seconds).

I found the error log when updating 3.55 OFW using the above method:

It was the exact same error when I updating the firmware from XMB in the very first place... feeling frustrated... This error seems to be rising from the BD revoke procedure ("Bul-ray Disc Player Revoke done(0x8002f057))... so maybe my BD board is broken.. I should have replace one before trying this method...

And now even the firmware it's not installed, it doesn't boot and I cannot exit FSM by placing the "exit fsm lv2diag" on the USB stick. It just boot to red led after a few seconds. All it can do now is to enter the recovery menu and install 3.56, but it will end up with the same data corruption error, and if I re-use the PSGrade dongle a few times it will still accept upgrading OFW 3.55 with the installing lv2diag on a USB stick but result a failure.

UPDATE: replaced with a known working BD drive and try FSM install 3.55 again, but the error message is exactly the same( Bul-ray Disc Player Revoke done(0x8002f057) / manufacturing updating FAILURE(0x8002f057))

I finally succeeded! Thank you so much everyone especially littlebalup. You literally saved two of my bricked consoles!

So here is what I did after I found the console is semi-bricked:
1. Retry a few times of the PSGrade teensy method to make sure it enters FSM
2. While the console is off, remove the BD
3. Download and put jaicrab nobd lv2diag and OFW 3.55 on the USB stick
4. Put USB stick in PS3 rightmost port, turn on. PS3 will update the firmware without doing anything. No screen, no hdd light until at the very end. It will flash the green light a few times but eventually turns off.
5. Check the install log named JaiCrab_LOG.TXT on the USB. Make sure the installation is successful. It should be like this

6. Download and put the "exit fsm lv2diag" to the USB stick
7. Put USB stick in PS3 right most port, like step 4, and turn on PS3. It will toggle off FSM mode and turn off the PS3 after a while.
8. Boot PS3 as usual. Now it's in OFW 3.55, without BD.
9. Install BD drive
10. Download OFW 4.88 to PS3/UPDATE folder on the USB.
11. Perform system upgrade from XMB as normal. It successfully installed.

Although I don't really understand what's happening while I'm in 3.41 and won't be able to pass the BD Player Revoke stage, but after installing OFW 3.55 it can pass again, with the same physical BD drive.
 
One question, why did you installed OFW 4.88?. I thought that you wanted to install OFW 3.55, fix everything and then install some CFW.

Anyways, congratulations! Good job on fixing your consoles.

I installed 3.55 OFW first, then upgrade using official upgrade method to 4.88 OFW. Just to play safely. Then finally I use my hardware flasher to patch nofsm using littlebalup's PyPS3patcher to install 4.88 CFW.
