From what I remember, Alexander (the developer) had a computer failure and lost all the source code related to Ferrox.
I assume he didn't want to start again from scratch so probably 4.87 will be the last version available.
I know it's a shame because some users liked his clean and simple firmware.
I was checking ps2netemu of CFW 4.89 and it looks like @Evilnat forgot to use the version with temperature monitoring and/or debug information.
I also noticed that ps2netemu of 4.88 and 4.89 doesn't have removed the blacklist from blacklist from xparam2.elf in ps2 bios.
In the ps2netemu included in Ultimate Toolbox, the following title ids are replaced with SLUT and PIMP

Final Fantasy XI and Linux for PS2... Weren't those the only two PS2 discs that required an HDD? Can the PS3 (even the truly BC models) even emulate a PS2 HDD?

Interesting.
TBH though I think it's pretty much useless these days since FFXI servers for PS2 were shut down in 2016 (PC version remains online) and for Linux you have OtherOS++

My idea was to use the virtual PS2 HDD file (IMAGE.DAT) to run PS2 homebrew (i was trying to inject uLaunchELF inside it), or even PS2 games (in a similar way how is made by HDLoader or OPL) but i never made any significative progress, other than learning about the internal structure of PS2 HDDs
In my oppinion, the worthy hack would be to allow all the PS3 models to use the IMAGE.DAT format, in other words... to use it with ps2_netemu, but this is just a brainstorming
This isn't Evilnat that broke it. It was sony. Something with the way they changed layout on the xmb. The Ultimate Toolbox needs to be updated to reflect the change and from what I can find Devil the dev of Ultimate is probably out of the scene. Not enough donations / support. Just don't use all of Ultimates features such as that one and anything that touches the xmb.
God bless you, unfortunately some people publish such tools, but they are not professionally made, thank you for the warning, we will take it into account, so I will wait for the release of "Bg Toolset", currently it is still on HEN hack I have installed HEN hack from your wonderful and secure site Significantly.
Hello. Can you please patch system to accept PS/Home button of any controller using bluetooth? Right now i can use dualsense but PS button doesnt work.

tried downloading this a few times now and every time it hangs at initializing download and then errors out and doesnt download.
side note: only download ive had issues with.
I think it should be noted that with netemu "your mileage may vary". I've never used it myself personally since my model is BC but I assume it's not compatible with some games that emu and gxemu are.
Yes, ps2_emu and ps2_gxemu are superior than ps2_netemu due they use hardware "emulation", while ps2_netemu is software emulation. However, a little amount of ps2 games work better with custom CONFIG files available only for ps2_netemu.
The feature that enables ps2_netemu on B/C consoles was implemented by habib on 4.81 Starbucks and later in Rebug 4.81 REX. He also added in that release support for decrypted CONFIG.
I only added support for that opcode 0x1ee9 introduced in Cobra 7.50. Rebug Toolbox allows to toggle ps2_netemu on B/C too.
