CFW 4.89.3 Evilnat Cobra (8.4) (CEX/DEX/PEX)

PS3 CFW 4.89.3 Evilnat Cobra (8.4) (CEX/DEX/PEX) -

The issue is that the functions GetGpuClockSpeed & GetGpuGddr3RamClockSpeed in xai_plugin scan the LV1 memory for the value. And this scan takes some seconds (sometimes until a minute depending on where the clock values are stored in memory).

In the video the user calls repetitively the function without wait for the function complete with a response. The plugin is called multiple times until there is a memory fault.

@Evilnat This issue could be solved easily using a lock file or semaphore in getClockSpeeds, to prevent that the function is called again while it is processing.

Also the response time could be optimized, merging GetGpuClockSpeed & GetGpuGddr3RamClockSpeed in a single function that scan both values. Typically both clock values are found very near in memory.

Are you sure I can only run HEN on my PS3? I was looking at this video tutorial:
and I should be able to install CFW?

I even found a guide here on this website "(Guide) Jailbreaking With Bgtoolset" and it also says that I can install CFW 4.89.

Is there any solution for Enable FTP in xai_plugin permanently?
Are you really sure that you want to do it? It may then interfere with other software trying to use the same port 21.

I know that some users are puzzled why they can't access Multiman / IRISMAN FTP server while they have webMAN MOD running in the background. So you should be careful about creating situations like this one.

@Evilnat I was finally was able to test the updated xai plugin(v1.2). Webman mod now displays Cobra 8.4.

Unfortunately fan is still broken when running PS2 classics. Lmk if there is anything else you'd like me to try.

I'm sure that, if there would be a permanent FTP option in xai_plugin, or in an xml file.
At the moment it can also interfere. The first one is the winner, that's all.

To be clear, I'm not against there being such option. I'm just worried about users who turn it on (while exploring xai_plugin for the first time for example) and then can't figure out why webMAN MOD/MultiMan servers are unreachable. There are situations such as NTFS support where you would want to use wMM and not others. I would personally prefer if the permanent option for FTP server in xai_plugin ran on something like 2121, just to make it less confusing. :encouragement:

I will try to convert another of my legit PS2 disc to PS2 Classic (FFXII)

Can you tell me what are you using to convert it? PS2 Classics GUI from @aldostools? I want to do the same way like yours

I'm kind of a noob in the scene. But can this hack be applied straight to a console that was never hacked before (official firmware)?

That's what I am asking and everything I read from the internet and even from this website ((Guide) Jailbreaking With Bgtoolset) it says that I can install CFW with Bgtoolset on my PS3 and then just download the Evilnat update and update it through the USB stick but aldostools told me here that I cannot do that if I'm over 4.85 OFW which is really confusing.

There is even a youtube video showing that I can do that:

If your PS3 is CFW compatible you need to use the official bgtoolset but it is not available yet

it's an official PSN download.
Download this PKG and install it, the PS3 must reboot if all went well: https://github.com/Evilnat/xai_plugin/raw/latest_release/xai_updater.pkg

Then set your PS2 FAN Mode in xai_plugin (make sure it is not the same speed if you have a custom one in XMB) and load the PS2 Classic game. I have tested it with my FFXII and Gradius V (official PSN download) in PEX [OC] and it worked fine

EDIT: Make sure you have Cobra 8.4 enabled, I used 70% in PS2 FAN mode and it worked fine with all my PS2 games with webMAN MOD dynamic FAN Control disabled

Short question. Is there any advantage in activating the 8th SPE outside OtherOS?
Or are there games that dynamically spawn SPU threads for available hardware?

So, this is largely for those who already had their console's JB previously? How about those that are running on HEN?

This is Custom Firmware, there are two factors you must determine
1.) PS3 Model
All PS3 Fat Models can install CFW
Early PS3 Slim Models can install CFW

Later PS3 Slim Models can't install CFW
All PS3 SuperSlim models can not install CFW
2.) PS3 Firmware -
3.55 FIrmware and lower- Can install a CFW PUP directly like OFW
4.82 - 4.85 There is the PS3Xploit Flash Writer
4.89: No safe method, usually it would be bguerville's PS3 Toolset but its offline due to some hosting / developer time issue's currently. There is various unsafe imposer's. we do not recommend to use those, you would be better off using PS3HEN then risking with incomplete work.

If you have a model that can install CFW but have a firmware issue, then you could downgrade your PS3 with additional hardware and various guides here in the forum. But even then i would just advise using PS3HEN until a safe method arises or the bgtoolset is back online which is suppose to be at some point.

So if we are on OFW 4.86-4.89, we should install the CFW with bgtoolset (when it becomes available) and then download the Evilnat Cobra CFW, put it on USB stick and install it like any other FW?
