CFW 4.89.3 Evilnat Cobra (8.4) (CEX/DEX/PEX)

PS3 CFW 4.89.3 Evilnat Cobra (8.4) (CEX/DEX/PEX) -

@Evilnat i recently saw a guy complaining that he can't use the "INSTALL ALL PACKAGES" option

AFAIK it's a qa flag feature, i 'm wondering if it can be patched in COBRA to allow it without qa flag

It works on HEN/HAN because it has the patches, you can grab them from hen source or here

What do you mean with "clean installation"?

I installed 4.89.3 Evilnat [PEX][OC] then installed Ultimate Toolbox, and the XMB layout was wrong.

I reinstalled 4.89.3 Evilnat [PEX][OC] without anything else and the problem persists:

Another issue is PS2 ISOs are not detected on Mamba 8.4.
EDIT: I fixed the issue and updated boot_mamba.pkg in Github
I meant with a clean CFW installation without installing anything after that, it is working for me, tested in [PEX][OC]

I couldn't find that patch in HEN src but I have researched nas_plugin in IDA and I patched it, do not know if is the same as HEN

Code:
File: nas_plugin.sprx (4.89)

Offset: 0x1F858
Original: 0x48032A51
Patched: 0x38600000

I tested it and it is working for me, can you or anyone test it with these PKGs?

Changelog v1.3
  • Enabled [Install All Packages] in non QA flagged PS3
  • Added german language in xai_plugin (thanks to @FadedHD3)
  • Updated french language in xai_plugin (thanks to @EimGdt and @Chronoss09)
  • Updated OtherOS and PSN icon (thanks to @hackzy01)

I can confirm that it is working fine with a clean installation, someone on twitter told me the same issue and he had installed PS3 Gameboot, re-installed the CFW and it worked again

They are probably using the 4.88 game_ext patched so that's the issue

they need to patch it

I was patching 4.88 nas_plugin with Nat new path

something caught my attention

/BOOK/ what is this patch used for?

maybe something similar to PSP/COMICS?

Nat, I've never tried IDA Pro so I just use HEX for patching by looking at the patterns, can you confirm if it's the right patch?

File: nas_plugin.sprx (4.88)
Offset: 0x1FB08
Original: 0x48032B31
Patched: 0x38600000

at least it worked , but i want to know if it is really correct without breaking anything

Btw the one from 4.88 is really different from 4.89, that's strange or maybe i'm using a dex one? i dunno, i need to check it

Also the gameboot one

File: game_ext_plugin.sprx (4.88)

Offset: I never checked hahah, i only find the values and override it
Original: 0x2F8900007BC30020
Patch: 0x2F89000038600002

and never tried on 4.89 sprx

For both sprx is the same offset and patch as 4.89 in CEX, I can't find your original value in 4.88 nas_plugin.sprx, is it correct? Maybe you are using a DEX one

Yeah that's what I thought, there's no reason my sprx should be different than 4.89 (only the layout changes)
Now I wonder what features does dex have that cex nas_plugin doesn't

Hello all,
I'm dusting off an older PS3 model (CECH2004B) (FW 4.87+HEN3.02?) where I replaced the harddrive for a 1TB drive.
I installed HFW 4.89.2 and HEN 3.1.1 on it.
Before I install the PS3 in the living again, I was hoping for your advice if I chose the best combination or is there a better firmware for my PS3?
Thank you very kindly,
Tom

This error does not happen to me, I will check it friend

Btw I have forced in Cobra to show blue icon for PS2 CD/DVD and now it shows the correct one, but I need to check if all the other types has been affected or not

That's nice Nat, thanks again, it always bothered me.

About FTP, compare the file size, I always get it truncated and not complete.

For example a 115KB .xml file, I will get it with the size of 87KB and if i open it, the end of the file will be missing

I'm thinking about video settings in Dex vsh.self, how about trying to patch the CEX one to show debug settings? I mean, this can be activated by a button combo; so if you find the routine you can remove the need for the combo and it can get permanently enabled.

Additionally, this patch can be used on other features that also require a buttom combo, such as debug settings inside the web browser

Is it feasible?

If you want to install CFW first you need to use bgtoolset (unavailable at this moment) and then you can install the CFW you want. For 4.89 I think only my CFW exists but there are a lot of CFW like Rebug, Ferrox, etc... You just have to use the one you are most comfortable with.

@Evilnat

see here, compare the size

55 KB vs 84KB

Did you try to use Filezilla to see if it does the same?

I think it is better to leave the debug options as they are, more than anything to know if they are activated in CEX when doing the combo

@LuanTeles @DeViL303 @aldostools I have finished testing PS2 Disc icon in Cobra and it seems to be functional, now it shows BLUE CD ICON. I have tried several ISOs created from CD as on DVD

CEX: https://mega.nz/file/IJkAAJID#rv3OX2biDFt7qOp79m_903qRB5Ywi4K0XvgQKFy4Dmg
DEX: https://mega.nz/file/gF0yFBaC#1o7P9xc6IlspufvHe_tx3ZFvmQUTMQxp7smH7xRJ5gw
PEX/D-PEX: https://mega.nz/file/McFVkS6Q#48d42RpowmblD_K7b0OXm0kxwaBqn8FmyjEOC1JYjuQ

Result: WORKING (Testing libCrypt here)

WARNING: Don't swap Cobra to debug mode, I didn't update it to go faster

I made a video showing it, I tested with PSX and PS2 (CD-R and DVD-R discs) and everything seems to be fine.
It would be fine to try it on a BC PS3 to check out problems, if someone would be so kind as to do it, I would be very grateful.

I have noticed that persists "Data disc" issue sometimes, I tried with old data payload and the same thing happens, after loading an ISO and returning to the XMB it shows it as "Data disc". This can be fixed rebooting the PS3 or remove and reinsert the disc
