CFW 4.89.3 Evilnat Cobra (8.4) (CEX/DEX/PEX)

PS3 CFW 4.89.3 Evilnat Cobra (8.4) (CEX/DEX/PEX) -

Not sure what's going on but sadly I can't get a PS2 disc or ISO to boot on an old 60GB BC unit.
PSN PS2 games boot and play fine but somehow the BC side is making it power off. I'm almost sure this is working before CFW.

Not sure what's going on, I reinstall CFW but it doing the same thing. Any idea?
do you have a SSD installed? this is a known issue with some SSDs.

Like @gssjsh said, do you have a SSD? Maybe it is caused by a modification in Cobra that replaces the PS2 icon with the blue one, I will try to revert this and send you a PKG

WebMAN does show a blue icon for ps2 game being loaded. When I attempt to load a game it just beeps and shuts off. I've tried pkg you uploaded and don't seem to help any.

WebmanMOD dosent seem to work on CEX/PEX version Evilnat 4.89.3 i dont know why, but on CEX it works fine?
Do you have the latest version? I have tested webMAN MOD on PEX/D-PEX, CEX, DEX and all variants and it is working fine

Can you tell me what is the problem you have? Loading webMAN MOD, ISOs, etc...?

If I were you I would try using an HDD and see if it works to rule out problems with the SSD

Yeah, that's what I'm going to do when I get home tonight, I just tried your pkg real quick in the morning before I had to leave for work.

I'm using PEX [OC]

UPDATE: Ok just got home and it does it on both SSD & HDD so that's not it.
All DVD/CD/ISOs are not working. Also, I'm getting 1701 error code trying to boot PS2 games.

I also tried it on another PS3 using PEX [OC] that more or less a new setup and both CD/DVD worked on it with no problem on HDD. Have not tried SSD yet.

Both consoles are BC?

I use 4.89.3 [CEX] [OC] without webman and webman mod.
"Enable FTP" in Cobra tools freezes the console immediately. It tried xai_plugin 1.2 and 1.3. Both freezes.

i tired to install fully webmanMOD cause it uninstalled when i switched to PEX and tired to play a game, it booted me into recovery mode, i clicked ps button it rebooted fine, just without webman, after i tired to install fully webman, it showed me webmanmod folder, but nothing else.
(its on the latest version!)

@Evilnat yet another suggestion. @M4j0r was able to find out where the rsx frequency function is located on 4.46 (likely with the help of funstuff user 3141card's database)

In 4.46 lv1:

function: rsx_device_clock_rsx_get_frequency (0x21F1A8)
clock id 1 and 5

used in: rsx_core_device_20DF5C (loc 0x20DFF4, loc 0x20E034)
print @ 0x20E164, 0x20E174

you can use this to obtain both clock frequencies WITHOUT resorting to a lv1 dump (thus preventing any future crashes)

Tired 4.88.2 Evilnat and got the same problem. Not sure if I need to do a full format/reset to fix things, hope not as it is almost full.
Can you test it on Rebug 4.84.2 REX/D-REX?

I will remove the option for FTP, it works well for some but not for others and I don't know what could be the reason yet

About your issue with webMAN is not an issue, in Cobra if you enter Recovery Mode it will disable all plugins, that is why you don't have webMAN MOD, you need to install it again

Wonderful amigo! I will try to add it to xai_plugin, can you tell me which frequencies are stable besides 600MHz / 750MHz?

Probably the recovery murdered the syscalls and/or files releated to the CFW since the recovery sort of makes the console only have the normal stuff, I just had that happen when I was updating the Apollo Save Tool and had to install the CFW ontop of itself and everything showed up again including webmanmod(which I ended up reinstalling before it catches on fire on it's own).

Kind of common with the PS3 for that to happen, it loves to shoot itself on the foot out of nowhere even under normal usage and suddenly webmanmod disappears, multiman vanishes, when you try to do something to fix it you get kicked to the recovery screen which makes the syscalls die out of nowhere and you find yourself installing the CFW ontop of itself again that it fixes the syscalls that disappeared and makes you able to fix stuff that gone to hell for no reason, no idea if it's the homebrew instability(no idea how hacky the homebrew are to be able to work) or the PS3 OS itself that is a mess since sony never did a good job with that, that kind of stuff happens once or twice per clean CFW install until everything stays stable out of nowhere and you don't have any problems anymore even when trying new stuff.

remember that only gets the frequency! not sets it! the range of possible frequencies is available in haxxxen's ps3mfwbuilder-mod repository.

I have checked it in IDA for 4.89 and it creates a string in LV1, the following in my case:

a05 500/650 vpe:ff shd:6f [AP0012481:1:1:10:11:8:2:5:2][1c:0:2:0:1:2:0][2:1:0]

500 Mhz: Core
650 Mhz: Memory

This string is located in two offsets from 4.81 to 4.89 (probably 4.80 and some more too, I don't have dumps below 4.81 to compare), which are the following:

Offset: 0x655258
Offset: 0x656268

These values seem to always be loaded in LV1 so good bye to crashes while getting them! Thank so much @zecoxao and @M4j0r!

It looks like @Evilnat forgot to change the version number in Cobra. It's actually is "8.4" but was labeled 8.3
EDIT: there is a new update of Evilnat 4.89.3 that now reports Cobra 8.4

Other changes in Cobra "8.4"
- Force video mode in PS1 games adding "NTSC" or "PAL" in the file name of the BIN/CUE
- PS2 FAN Speed now works with PS2 Classic games
- Updated PS3MAPI_CORE_VERSION to 0x0124 (OsirizX additions for Dynarec)
- Disabling boot_plugins.txt by Evilnat
- Check for NULL memory allocation in make_rif.c
- Map path like Mamba 8.4
- Fixed issue in PhotoGUI. It was truncating the path by 16 bytes

Not sure what happened that these were added, then removed
- Search boot_plugins.txt & boot_plugins_kernel.txt in /dev_usb000
- Load external stage2.bin from /dev_usb000 if the file exists (by haxxxen)
- Skip load cobra if the file /dev_usb000/no_cobra exists

If I recall correctly, it was causing sync issues with pad controllers.
I thought these features would be allowed if a flag file was created on dev_flash. But no :blue:

Hi there,
Thats what I have "sync issues"
Two days ago my fat ps3 developed a problem and I had to format the HDD.

The Ps3 boot sequence is now slow, and was not before this.

Now when the console is on sleep mode and I press the PS button the controller does not sync because the ps3 takes a lot more time to boot up the system and even with the controller blinking the ps3 does not connect it. But if I insert the usb clable and remove it does sync.

If I turn on the PS3 by hand and wait 10 seconds to press the PS button, that way the remote controller syncs, or if I use the usb cable also syncs.

I found if I disable cobra the ps3 boots fine, and the controller syncs perfectly, also the booting time is normal for HDD time to boot up.

I have the same problem on SSD and HDD.

The problems started after the console encoutered an error and the only option that worked was formating the OS. The other ones on the recovery freezed the system.

Im using Evilnat 4.89.3 OC cex/pex since the release date by Evilnat

Things I´ve done to try to fix it:

Formated the HDD many times, and installed evilnat 3.88.2 - Evilnat 4.89 and Evilnat 4.89.3 (Cobra 8.3 and 8.4) cex/pex, via xmb and on recovery
Bought/Installed a brand new SSD yesterday, I did same installations as mention before on the HDD, and nothing works as before.

Is this a bug or a semi-brick?

What can I do to solve it? This very annoying

If I downgrade it to 3.55OFW fix it? or just because it stores things on Nand im fu....?

Thanks in advance
