Nah, no need... I understand why it may seem good idea for some people, but really Each one had their reason to exist. Including the gold PS2 DVD.
The distinction between CD and DVD is important. Actually an important feature when it comes to PS2 support also.

The PS2 emulators (all 3, from CECHA to superslim) are taking into account what kind of disc they are dealing with. They will behave differently, based on the media detected.
For example they have a speed limit on purpose, that will be slower for CD (blue disc) than for DVD (gold disc), to improve accuracy.
If all were be detected as blue disc... (CD) then all would be running slower for no good reason!
Here is example, the same test program will give very different results, simply depending on how the disc is being recognized

Now as long as the change is only cosmetic, and it doesnt actually change the way that the discs are being detected... Then is still OK I guess. Just we cant visually see if the media is CD or DVD anymore. Maybe is no big deal, as long as the system can still tell the difference under the hood.

Then again, if people just want that as a small cosmetic change to fit better with webman, Maybe would be better to do something from webman side for example?
Instead of embedding this in the base firmware.

It's only cosmetic and handled by cobra
 
@Evilnat my system becomes extremaly slow when the fan speed is above 80%, it will take more than 1 hr to boot (if it boot) and etc

I have the same problem with webMAN MOD.

I will take a look. If this happens again go to Recovery Menu and reboot the PS3, this will disable plugins and remove FAN Control
 
Hey my PS3 is currently on: FERROX 4.87 + COBRA 8.20, am I able to update to Evilnat over top of it? I am gonna wait until evilnat 4.90 comes out to because I never activated psn (created a dummy account), so to my knowledge I believe nothing can be ran without license thingy, please correct me if I'm wrong. I also couldn't find a reliable guide or information showing that I could upgrade the firmware from one to another.

I have this problem for quite sometime, maybe its something in the fan control code as webMAN fan control causes the same here.

I had to format my hd to fix this when it happened, because my webman was in flash :P. (loaded automatically by cobra and by my boot_plugins_nocobra.txt, so even with cobra disabled it loaded webMAN and my script enables cobra if disabled, so i had no choice)

but now i'm without webMAN and the same problem happened with cobra fan control, any value above 80% causes this isse.

@Evilnat in the next version of cobra i would suggest you a modular CFW Tools, where all cobra dependent features are in another xml and loaded by map_path by cobra, so when cobra is disabled, they will not show and also add a buttom saying that it is disabled and clickin on it enables it back.

Dynamic icons would also be nice, to show if it is on dex mode/cex and etc.


If you get interrested on it, i can make the xmls for you.
 
Cobra is doing something that slows down my ps3 on boot.

When enabled the ps3 controller (ps button) can wake up the ps3 from sleep mode but loses connection after that, and I need to connect it by cable 1 or 2 seconds to be recognized again.
When Cobra is disabled everything is normal and ps3 wakes up normally and recognizes the ps3 controller.
This was tested with 3 different and original ps3 controllers

Time from boot to get to the username choice is: Cobra OFF
SSD - 14 seconds
HDD -15 seconds

Time from boot to get to the username choice is: Cobra ON
SSD 25 seconds
HDD 26 seconds

What plugins on cobra can delay the ps3?

Is there anyway to dalay cobra during boot for the ps3 controller to be able to be recognized by the system?

I recently updated my banned ps3 to the new version cfw evielnat 4.89.3 and started playing online through the fakeIDPS tool so far so good but when trying to change the region of a save game Npub to Bles using apolo and then save conversion tool in the Psn section I come across the following message: it was not possible to open the xRegistry, in desperation browsing through the Psn section I ended up deleting the Account Id and now I also get the message: Unable to find the account id current. I think it's something related to xRegistry. I have a backup saved of it, and I would like to know if there is any solution for this problem, note: a few days ago I changed from fakeIDPS to definitive Idps through the webman, thus deleting my old idps that was banned. Anyone with more knowledge or who has been through this to help me with this setback?:apologetic:

So I have just expressed my opinion about few stupid UI changes. I have not attacked anyone. @Evilnat does not give a shit about it and that is fine. I am not interested in others' opinions, as it is not a @LuanTeles CFW or @Kevin8082 CFW. Over and out.

I I have updated Cobra and added an option to be able to change the color of the PS2 disc icon from xai_plugin. Now you can choose which icon you want to appear on the XMB, blue or default

Since you are open for suggestions. How about a hide/deactivate switch for the app_home entry in the XMB?

Or just generally the ability to hide entries in the XMB? I'd like to get rid of all the PS Vita entries cluttering up the games section.
