Hi all,
i just recently bought my first pre-modded PS3 Slim with:
Rebug 4.86.1 LITE
Cobra 8.2
(any more information needed?)
As this is my first time dealing with CFW and related issues, i've been reading a lot the last few days. But many articles are many years old, so it's sometimes unclear if they're still relevant. And of course they all assume a lot of pre-existing knowledge, so most of the time, i don't even know what they're talking about.
To my problem:
I have a bunch of games in various formats (ISO, extraced, pkg) and about 60% of them work fine.
For the others i mainly get the "famous" 80010017 error. According to my "research" this most likely means that EBOOT.BIN was encrypted with a key that's banned in later firmwares. Correct so far? Are there other common causes for that error?
So far i only got this error with games in ISO format. Coincidence or is there a reason for this?
Having a custom firmware, i would have expected that the check for banned keys would just be removed entirely. What am i missing/misunderstanding here?
I tried PS3 ISO TOOLS to patch the game to another FW version, 4.20 was the highest option available, but it didn't make any difference.
How do i get this game(s) to work?
Thanks for your time.
