PS4 CFW PS4 doesn't reconize internal hard disk

Hello,

I am not going to eplain all the details, but basically what I did is to remove the internal hard drive from my cfw 9.0.0 ps4. After I removed it I just reiserted it on the console, and the result is that the hard disk is not been reconized. The ps4 pop up a message saying to insert an usb drive with 9.0.0 firmware or above.

I basically lost all my data and saves on my internal hard drive? Can I do something to make it work again?

In the case all the data is gone, I have to reinstall the ps4 os system in the console. But looking at the videos on youtube it seems I have to download the firmware from the official ps4 website, and then one I installed I hae to log in with my account.Basically this mean that I have to connect to the internet and download the latest firmware and so I wwill not able to install again the 9.0.0 cfw?

Can you guys tell me the solution to have my ps4 working with cfw?

There is no public CFW for PS4 AFAIK.
You most likely had a 9.00 OFW with a jailbreak such as GoldHEN.
IDK what happened to your data, it shouldn't ask for a firmware if you only pulled the HDD out to put it back in :-/

Anyway, if you just want your jailbreak back you can install 9.00 OFW and follow any guide out there.
Use a USB drive for the Update. Disconnect internet and make sure there's no disk in the BD-drive.

@magix01 Windows will not initialize PS4 HDD because PS4 using not encrypted GPT, not custom and encrypted shit like grandpa PS3.

@Tackskull Of course You cannot downgrade. Once You will install fw newer than 9.00, You can say good bye for current exploits.

The is no such thing as CFW for PS4.

If You didn't overwrite any data on this HDD, it means there is problems with connectors (dirty, broken etc.) on HDD side and/or PS4 port side.

Pretty sure you can install your original firmware if you can find it as a download
You would need the full OFW install.
That way you don't lose jail break capabilities.
 
So basically, am I able to use that hard disk again? Or have i to use a new one? In the case I have to reinstall the ps4 firmaware I have to download the official one from the playstation website, and I am scared that doing this, the firmware will be updated to the latest one, and so I will not able anymore to use the 9.0.0 jailbreak.

Or maybe, there is a way to extract the games and saves from the hard drive and put them in the new hard disk?

exactley, I was trying to clone the hard disk, so basically I conencted it via usb to a windows pc. Then i reisnerted to the ps4 and this happened

Connecting PS4 HDD to PC (Windows, Linux, whatever) will not overwrite any data, even Windows will not ask to initialize it.

Maybe You mislead source and destination drive. If Yes, then You lost all data on it.

So basically, am I able to use that hard disk again?

Yes, if GPT or any data later was overwritten, then for PS4 it is just empty HDD.

On Sony www there is only newest fw, not 9.00. So don't download from Sony...
 
Also I am fairly sure that if you installed any other HDD in the PS4, while the original HDD was taken out, this will prevent you from using the original HDD again without formatting it.

I got caught out by this a few years ago, I thought it would be like PS3 where we can have multiple HDDs paired at the same time and swap between them as long as firmware version is the same on both. So silly me wanted to test something with my PS4, I took out the 2TB HDD, put in 500GB HDD for a few minutes, installed firmware, realized what I wanted to do would not work, but when I went to put in the 2TB HDD it would no longer work, asked me to format it. Very annoying.

My guess is that Sony added a check so that only 1 HDD can be paired at a time, and old HDD data is revoked. Or the current active HDD serial number is remembered by the system, and any other HDD needs to be formatted.

Note: I have seen someone claim that they can swap PS4 HDDs without any issues too, so I am only 90% sure based on what happened to me.

You can still reuse your hdd if you format it (data loss), regarding the firmware, download 9.00 or lower from here:

You can follow official USB method put place 9.00 PUP on UPDATE folder, make sure when you download firmware file, do MD5 comparison to be 100% sure that the file is 9.00 and not corrupt. Then proceed.

That is a good idea and I wish I had thought of it at the time :)

If the check is fairly simple, like if just the serial number is checked then it might just work. If I'm bored someday I might try it.
 
@DeViL303 If this still will not work, maybe there is additional security layer like e.g keeping somewhere in flash UUID of partitions (GPT using random generated IDs for partitions recognition, and since GPT is not encrypted we can mess with it). Worth then to change them to the same as was in the last format. The idea is that this could another not obvious factor impacted on end user for constantly growing anger somewhere deep inside his soul for making stupid limitations. ;}
 
At this pont I would like to buy a new and bigger hard disk, 2tb or 4 tb, and using it as an internal hdd. The old hard disk it still have all the partitions, so can I maybe transfer games and saves put them in an external usb hard drive?

  • For making and writing HDD copy, use application like HDD Raw Copy Tool (Windows), DMDE (Windows), dd (Linux), any hex editor (any system).
  • For editing GPT, use GParted (Linux).

If You expecting connecting old HDD and copy data from it then no, it will be recognized as empty. If You expecting to be used after formatting by PS4 as external drive, then yes but this will kill all data on it which You currently have.

If disk wasn't overwritten (You still didn't said what have You exactly done...) and still have logic, You can dump EAP Key and retrieve all games, patches and saves, along with Your NP Account ID which You must use as Activation ID (You will no longer be able to connect to SEN to login and activate in the process the console on fw 9.00).

Basically what I did is to connect the internal hard drive to windows using an usb/sata adaptor, with the intention of cloning the hard disk to another bigger one. I used a program to clone all the hard disk, and when the operation was finished I just reinserted the hard disk on the playstation4 and this happened.

So, how I dump the EAP? And what process have I to follow to take back all my games, saves and account to ork back on the ps4?
So basically I will buy a new hard disk, I wil use the 9.0.0 recovery firmware, then I dump the EAP on the old HDD. This sounds good?
