PS3 [CFW] Recommended files to dump?

Hi I got a CFW system setup a month or so back. I heard there's some important files you want to dump to make recovery easier later.

I know of the act.dat, the idps, and the erk file for decrypting your hard drive, as well as the flash memory on ps3tools. I got all of those already alongside the eeprom and one of the lvl dumps. Anything else I should grab for the future or am I more or less set just with that?

:D You already got the most important files. In summary, backup all you find in the Dump folder of CFW Tools in CFW Evilnat 4.92.

xRegistry.sys from /dev_flash2 is useful too.

Backup your exdata and savedata folders in /dev_hdd0/home. Apollo Save Tool can be useful to backup these files.

Also check if you have old content from PS Home in the following folders:
/dev_hdd0/game/NPIA00005
/dev_hdd0/game/NPEA00013
/dev_hdd0/game/NPIA00010
/dev_hdd0/game/XXXX00071

This is mostly useful for content preservantion.

Awesome! This PS3's a fresh one with a fresh drive so nothing in HOME, but I can check my old one for some stuff just in case.

So far I dumped everything in the dump tools except the RAM and syscom, the latter only working on a NAND system. I got everything else from what I could see like the metldr and eeprom files, though I don't know how many of those I'll need.

Let's say ordinary user needs only those:
  • NAND/NOR dump: for flash recovery if for some reason become broken or fw brick.
  • xRegistry.sys: for having easy way to restores accounts (NPAIDs etc. in the past, also passwords to SEN but since they added forced 2FA, they aren't stored there any longer). It lies on NAND dumps but it is easier to have it separated anyway.
  • IDPS: can be retrieved from flash dump but it is just easier to have it separated.
  • ERK: for disk decryption outside PS3.
  • user data: https://www.psx-place.com/threads/ultimate-userdata-backup-guide.29037/
