Changing the HDD from 320 to 500GB

Hi everyone,

I Bought a ps3 about 3 months ago from someone online and it is a PS3 Slim with 4.86 with HEN, and he installed some games in the internal HDD.
Anyway I decided to expand the storage to 500GB HDD so I made a normal backup to an external HDD, then installed the new HDD and restored the backup I made, and installed HEN again, but I found these problems which I can't solve:-

1- The installed games were resorted but most of them don't work, only the PSN ones works "Assassin's Creed III: Liberation", any other games which I think was CD based " GTA V - Call of Duty Black ops ...etc" the following error occur "80010007 - An error occurred during the start operation".

2- Webman freezes the system and makes the ps3 restarts itself, and this problem makes me unable to run my own games from the external HDD, as every time I try to access webman, the system freezes, and I don't know how to uninstall webman and install it again.

These problems doesn't happen with the original 320 HDD, so I think the mistake is something I made when backup the data to the new HDD.

So any help to solve these issues ??
And what are the best way to backup data from one HDD to another on PS3 HEN?

Thanks in advance guys.

Ad1. Never use System Backup Utility. It is piece of shit. It doesn't restoring license files, also not storing trophies. It doesn't restoring almost anything on another console. It is not backup, just placebo.

For now, You can extract exdata for each account from system backup archives on PC and restore them via file manager or ftp client in proper places. This should fix licensing problems.

Ad2. Reinstall WebMAN MOD. Download newest version and unpack installer (>> install package file) then run installer. Maybe not all data was restored from "backup".

File manager. You choosing what to backup, where and what to restore.

Thanks very much for your answer, I'll try this and tell you next week with the results, because I'm out of town now, but another question since you said PC, does that mean that I can take the old HDD and hook it to PC and extract all the files with the same structure from it and then paste it to the other HDD and it will work ?

Aha, now I understood what you said.
Anyway my last question regarding the extracting of exdata from system archives on PC, can you explain further how I can do this exactly?

Using ps3xport v0.2. It's unfinished tool but fortunately, unpacking is fine.

There are also two GUIs for it: "PS3Xport Tool GUI" and "ps3xportGUI v0.2".

I need to do this while the old HDD is in the PS3?
Or just I can do it now and these data are stored somewhere else other than the internal HDD?

If You made system backup via System Backup Utility option in XMB (as I understand from Your post), and if You still have the files (/PS3/EXPORT/BACKUP/*.dat) made from source HDD, then You can extract contents from it on PC. Then moved extracted licenses and whatever You want to hacked PS3.

Unfortunately, I deleted the files from the backup, guess my only option now is to perform a new back up but with the file manager, I will put the old HDD again on the PS3 and then install the file manager and perform a fresh backup with it.

Hello Berion. Sorry to bother you.

I have recently changed my PS3's HDD and before doing that I did a backup of the entire contents of folders '00000001' and 'etc' with multiMAN.

What should I do to get back my trophies and saves? Can you please explain to me in details how should I proceed?

@kimi7 Just put the data back and rebuild database (it will not show in XMB without doing it). But of course in addition, NP Account ID must match to NP Account ID for user number 00000001 or else You will not be recognize as owner (this information is written in "dev_flash2/etc/xRegistry.sys", so the best is backup this file and replace it on target HDD + full cycle restart).

In case of saves, it is super easy now to resign all via Apollo Save Tool. But in case of trophies, still not, so the easiest road is just not mess with ownership mechanism.

@Berion. Thank you replying back to me. I am currently using REBUG_4.84.2_REX and multiMAN.

Some terms that you have used are a bit confusing to me. In simple terms, I will tell you the steps and please check if they are good or not.

1. Copy and overwrite folder "00000001" in "home".
2. I have a second folder "etc" in which there are folders "activation" and "backup" and file "xRegistry.sys". Should I paste and overwrite it in folder "dev_flash"?

1. yes
2. yes, but not dev_flash, paste it into dev_flash2

One last question about my issue, as I'm back to my home tomorrow and I'll try to make a new backup from my old HDD, the question is can I just make a backup of the needed licenses without having to make a backup of the whole HDD again ??
And if it's possible what's the path of these licenses ?

@Mahmood Yes.

"dev_hdd0/home/<user number>/exdata/" but make RAPs from them instead of injecting RIFs. You will be free from any account. Making/restoring via Apollo Save Tool.

Hi, I just installed Apollo on my old HDD, but when trying to export licenses as RAPs, it gives me an error "Export folder is not avaliable"
Can you help please?

Well, after so many tries my system stuck on system restore loop, but get it to work ome time so I decided to perform quick formating and system restore from the settings in order to get a fresh start, all yhings went great, and after the format and system restore HEN was still there so that's great, what I intend to do from this point, is installing multiman, and then through file manager I'll copy everything from the old HDD and then paste on the new HDD through multiman files manager, will there be any problems through this approach?
Will I have to do any other thing other than copying and pasting?

Sorry I knew I already bothered you alot with my problem :)

Rebuilding database to making copied items shows (games, saves, trophies etc.).
Replacing xRegistry.sys with filled register information for each user You want ownership.

How can I do these ?
Unfortunately when I tried Apollo, when trying to export the licenses as RAPs it didn't copy anything, just an empty folder, although I can find the licences in the path :(
