PS3 Compatibility List - PS2 on PS3

So the Digimon config is using Primal's 0x12 command/parameters...that's interesting.

EDIT: And 24: The Game.
I think that's placebo effect. 0x12 is per offset config, on VU, and on EE. So this need a lot of luck to work, because config work only when CTC2, or CFC2 opcode is found at EE offset. That's not all, because CRC need match to make config work. So there is actually no chance all that hits correct offsets, and CRC match.

Fixes black box bug and other graphical errors due to alpha effects (character select/checkpoints).

The only thing that I cannot find is a fix for the stats on the character select. It sometimes goes behind the background animation, but that's it. Also, Ling Yufen's legs and board get all twisted and deformed. It is pretty funny to see, but I couldn't find a fix for this. So besides these minor bugs, and the frame drops with a lot of ai racers, games seems free of bugs now.

Additionally, this game made me understand that netemu has a big problem with alpha effects. Games that have weird blocky graphical glitches are most likely due to the emulator not processing them correctly. Some games that come to mind:

Parappa the Rapper 2 (top left corner)
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (top left corner)
Tony Hawk's American Wasteland (in Santa Monica)

They aren't intrusive or bothering, but they can be noticeable. There are more games with this problem, but these are the ones off the top of my head. I'm gonna try to fix the graphical bugs in HUD for Berserk since both games are made by Yuke's. Maybe it's an alpha bug in that game, too...

PS3 have bad noodles effect too?
I don't think we have enough "power" to fix that on PS3.

Doesn't seem to be the same issue. This one is much less intrusive, with a smaller area and transparent blocks. Afair it is very similar issue to LotR: RotK, both have transparent blocks in the top left of the screen due to some effect. I haven't played them in a while and will have to look into them again.

Berserk's alpha bugs are greater than I remember, and almost all of the HUD uses it. There is green/pink colored blocks toward the upper right of the HUD textures when colors clash underneath it. The problem is Alpine Racer 3's functions were neat and labeled, making the alpha functions easy to locate via ps2dis. Berserk on the other hand has no labels, so it is impossible to find via the way I found it last time.

Disabling alpha will definitely fix this game. I just don't know where to go from here. :(

Second attempt, this time second mission hang should be fixed. Sadly that required some sacrifice, You can see that on first mission movie, not sure where else. But game should be now playable. Feedback appreciated.

Nice work! I'm gonna test this one when I have some time.

I don't know of anyone else on the internet still trying to fix PS2 Games on PS3, without you guys the list would be final. Thank you for your work. If I had the know how I would be doing it with you but it's not my strong suite.

At the start of this year I didn't know what I was doing at all. kozarovv gave me some advice on 0x0A commands with Minna no Golf, and that's what started my interest. Then I just started testing some commands and getting used to making them into configs. It's fun for me, and I'm learning a lot...still don't know what I'm doing most of the time though lol.

Anyways, this emulator is pretty cool, and I'm glad I can help out. I'll do my best to fix as many games as I can.

I been looking at all the game Title IDs that uses command 0x0E inside gxemu from firmwares 4.82
There is a total of 8 title IDs for 3 games
-Gran turismo 4 (EUR, JAP, KOR, USA)
-Tourist Trophy (EUR, JAP, USA)
-Singstar ABBA (EUR)

Instead of writing a long explain at all the data related with this command, i made the 8 config files and zipped them together with a .TXT where you can see all that data, incase someone wants to follow my procedure you can copypaste to search for that values, and use it to verify the data
I cant test them, so if someone have this games please try and report back if success or failure, the usage of this command is new, at least for me

https://www.sendspace.com/file/nn1o7w

------------------------
Resume of how works gxemu command 0x0E (a.k.a. netemu 0x10)
At the second level of the structure there are two unit32_t values (in the TXT are called "data_1" and "data_2")
Initially looks like offsets of gxemu itself, specially if you start looking at gran turismo 4 (there is one that matches with a weird area that looks like a huge array), but when you look at singstar ABBA it doesnt makes sense at all, so if there is something i can say is this values are not absolute offsets of gxemu
Still... if you compare the values of all them you will realize the second one is always bigger than the first one... that difference is noted in the TXT (in the second one where it tells "... 0x??? bigger", and are consecutive, that difference is very small
So yeah... looks like offsets but i think are offsets of other stuff (some area of the game), not offsets of gxemu itself
In other words... we dont need to search for more data, everything seems to be here

So i think the conversion to config files should be as simple as what i did
I hope it works... if it doesnt i hope this is going to be an start point to continue digging with this command :)
About the singstar ABBA config... yeah... shame on me, if that one works dont give me credit for it, i made it just for completionism because appears on the list :P

Edit:
Please test the games with, and without the config file to identify if the config does some improvement
You can see the problems reported for that games here: http://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/PS2_Classics_Emulator_Compatibility_List

Sorry to reply to such an old message - I couldn't see if anyone had tested your Tourist Trophy config and the sendspace link doesn't work anymore. Do you still have the config?

Thanks.

I dont remember well what i was trying to do at hat point, but i guess i was extracting some configs manually with a hexeditor from ps2_gxemu.self for research purposes
Later this extraction process was automatized by a program named "get config" made by zar, it generates this logs (in human readable format for research purposes), and the configs

From that point is better to work with the files generated by the program "get_config" and forget about the configs we was extracting manually, at some point we was verifying the program "get_config" was extracting everything correctly and works fine, is more relliable than humans :D
You can get the files generated by the program from this links:

For GX emu

The Bouncer (SLPS-25023) WIP CONFIG
Code:
3D 00 00 00 57 44 00 00 0A 00 00 00 02 00 00 00
44 E3 1C 00 09 F8 60 00 00 00 00 00 B4 E3 1C 00
09 F8 60 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
Disables glow effect to allow game to run full speed. Cutscenes don't seem affected (or may not even have this effect), so there will still be slowdown. Gameplay seems greatly improved though, and I didn't encounter any slowdown so far with my testing. Working on disabling blur effect now, and then will port to NTSC-U ver.

Also, I have tested Ace Combat 0 and it works! Gameplay has no issues/slowdown during the first mission. I died and didn't feel like restarting...but I'll take your word on the mission 2 fix. Still some slowdown in the opening mission cutscene though, along with the small texture glitch you mentioned.

I've been searching the whole internet for solution to the problem that I have with PaRappa the Rapper 2 emulation, and so I've been brought to here.
It has a solution?
I have a PS3 SuperSlim, tried the GX configuration and nothing happened.

What's the issue? I have played and beaten the game on my system with the config file.

I already said that I tried. I tried soft config, gx config and none of those worked.
Wich ID is your game ?
The config is selected based on it (and some configs are dependant of it, because applyes patches on top of the ISO or memory areas that differs by ID/region or the game)

Take a look at the log.txt files from this links and compare them:

Inside GXemu there are 3 "Parappa the Rapper 2" configs for: SCUS_971.67, SCPS_150.17, SCES_504.08
Inside SOFTemu there are 3 "Parappa the Rapper 2" configs for: SCUS_971.67, SCPS_150.17, SCES_504.08
But... the configs are different because are using different commands, and are patching different things at different offsets

Edit:
This game is tricky.. it looks sony was "porting" the configs between regions of the game, also most probably the config was originally made for GXemu... and later ported to SOFTemu
