PS3 Compatibility List - PS2 on PS3

Hey dude! I'm actually having the exact same problem with the exact same cutscenes.
I've been digging around a bit and I've heard that very similar glitches occur on PC emulators and that it may be due to the dual layer aspect of the DVD CD.
You are using a slim/ps2_netemu right? Have you found anything regarding this issue? There's supposedly a single layer undub multi-disc version out there, tried that?
We might just have the same faulty ISO though, haha... I haven't tried just skipping the cutscene though, cuz of how long the gargoyle fight is.
I don't think the iso is the problem, but I can't confirm as I don't have a save before Gargoyle. Skipping the cutscene after Gargoyle allows the game to continue as normal. Trust me, you're not missing anything. Cherenkov just fades telling Shion that she'll be in the beach of nothingness soon.

Due to rules, I can't tell you where to find it, but you can Google. Skipping the cutscene after Gargoyle allows the game to continue as normal. Trust me, you're not missing anything. Right right right, thanks dewd.
I'd like to ask properly for clarification and reference to anyone in the future who might be interested in this issue, though:
- Have you played any further on the dual layer version? Did the issues reappear later in the game?
- Or did you perhaps move on to the Japanese multi disc one? Were the issues fixed? Including the black-screened "dream" segments.
- Have you beaten the game? On which version and how smooth was the experience?
Also, I'm assuming you are on a Slim/SuperSlim PS3, correct me if I'm wrong, it'd also help to know if you are running a PKG convert or a direct rip load through Webman or something.

Thanks! and sorry, I don't wanna come across as demanding or pushy, I know your original post is a tad old too, so I understand if you don't remember or something.
BTW! In case you have played the multi-disc versions. Do you know if it's possible to emulate the game's disc-swapping, or is it managed by save files in the virtual memory card?

EDIT: I'm very sorry! I just noticed the warning. I thought I had been vague enough. I thoroughly apologize.

@pokegts90 @CroxAndSox If either of you can post your memory card image (.VM2) with the save before the freeze, I can check to see if it freezes with my copy.
Sure but I'll need some time. Basically I'll have to start the game over.

@CroxAndSox No I haven't tested the split disk version (I kinda stopped playing for a while now), so I can't give any information on that. You can try it if you want. I was on the slim; I haven't beaten the game but other than one softlock (which I assume was random and not an emulation thing) and the erde kaiser quest which requires a config file (known ps3 bug), it basically ran fine. I found there was some slowdown with smoothing on, but turning it off fixed it. I hope that was enough information.

EDIT: Attached is a save file before the black screen flashback. To answer the other guy, no, it doesn't work in the split disk version. Haven't made it to Gargoyle; not looking forward to that 9 minute fight. Also, a couple things. The config for Xenosaga at aldostools causes the game to not load on a black screen. Also, and unrelated, Katamari Damacy has an official PS Classic. Will the config file from the PKG fix any issues with it? Do you need me to send that config file?

Shadow Hearts (SLUS-20347) (SLPS-25041)
Code:
3D 00 00 00 34 12 00 00 0E 00 00 00 3C C6 21 00
21 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
Fix all FMV slowdown/desync (coupled with lottery fix from a few months back). Only tested on SLUS-20347 but it should work fine for both regions.

Safe to say command 0x21 will fix FMV slowdown and stuttering problems in many games, and it's used officially in a few official PS2 Classics (like Fatal Frame 2).

this fix slowdowns in the turbo mode of final fantasy xii. now only the bug of the confirmation audio is missing :)

Sure, here's the vmc if you want. But fair warning, it's normally very slow.
There are three files, choose the one with the most playtime. Go down the yellow elevator in the middle of the north wall from the save point, then make your way around the circular hall to the platform in the middle of the room and press a switch. Go down and press another switch near a giant door. Enter, skip the cutscenes and a boss battle will start. I don't know of any way to use cheats, but if you have access to them please use godmode or something, it's a horrible battle. Once you kill the boss, a cutscene will play. @pokegts90 had already marked a timestamp for the faulty spot on an earlier post I quoted. Either way it's on the white beach part.

It's very lengthy, but feel free to check it if you want.

@RandQalan @Leonardo Meireles @pokegts90 I am definitely out of the loop...I thought that was only an option in the FFXII PS4 remaster. But that is an interesting discovery. The sound bug is also present in Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, so it's obvious the audio programmer at Square was the same person for all of these games. Kingdom Hearts has some wrong sound velocities/playback at points. I will look into this at some point...

While I'm here, I realized there was already a gx Tekken 4 config which is literally the same lol...my bad. At least there is one for Japan region now.

TIL there were audio glitches in KH1 + 2. I didn't even notice them when I played them. Oh well. Thanks.

how do you make a encrypted config?

haven't been able to run the game without freezing using the config from aldostools.

@Leonardo Meireles Not sure. I always thought 0x21 only did stuff for FMVs. Are you sure the config isn't just a placebo? I will have to look at that game eventually to see what all the problems are.

@erebea You can download encrypted configs from the aldotools' PS2 Config Database by clicking "ENC (PS2 Classics)" in the dropdown menu. There should be like every config ever made on there if I am not mistaken. Otherwise, you can encrypt them yourself using ps2classics gui.

I am away from my ps3 for a few days. I plan on doing these tests when I'm back (in no particular order):

- check Xenosaga freeze
- look into FFXII/KH sound bugs
- revisit SSX to find a definitive solution
- try to fix Shadow Hearts 2/3 analog freeze (I think I am close with this one) and FMV freezes in SH3
- random game testing
