PS3 Compatibility List - PS2 on PS3

@Leonardo Meireles Not sure. I always thought 0x21 only did stuff for FMVs. Are you sure the config isn't just a placebo? I will have to look at that game eventually to see what all the problems are.

@erebea You can download encrypted configs from the aldotools' PS2 Config Database by clicking "ENC (PS2 Classics)" in the dropdown menu. There should be like every config ever made on there if I am not mistaken. Otherwise, you can encrypt them yourself using ps2classics gui.

I am away from my ps3 for a few days. I plan on doing these tests when I'm back (in no particular order):

- check Xenosaga freeze
- look into FFXII/KH sound bugs
- revisit SSX to find a definitive solution
- try to fix Shadow Hearts 2/3 analog freeze (I think I am close with this one) and FMV freezes in SH3
- random game testing

it's not really a placebo. It is visible to gain performance in speed mode (mode that accelerates gameplay). Shadow hearts configuration was used which unfortunately turns off the ps3 when saving the game.

How about the slowdown of Scarface? it just has slowdowns. Can a config fix it?:hopelessness::wink new:
In theory it is possible, however there is no known config to fix the issues. Again, it is theoretically possible to create one however as far as I know the instructions to the emulator which are the contents of a .CONFIG file are not all known, so it could be that the fix needed (if possible) is simply not known to anyone because of this.

can someone help me out?what the custom config for onimusha dawn of the dreams actually do?it seems to be the same thing as The GX Config.

You can compare the two .CONFIG files using a hex editor such as HxD. If they're the same, then it fixes the same problem which for that game is texture issues according to the PS2 Classics emulator compatibility list.

If it achieves the same purpose, use whichever one you want :)

is gran turismo 4 really playable?game freezes on black screen using custom config on managunz?

Edit:Nevermind I had a bad iso, tried pal version and it works fine.

Doubt here but why is config only for pal version avaliable to the game god hand?the game was officially released as ps2 classic in both usa and europe.

@mrjaredbeta where I donwload klonoa 2 usa config?in the database there is the japanese and pal version.

Nevermind I already solved God hand simple using ox41 command.

It seems one of the commands (0x0A) used inside the CONFIG is specific "by game region" and nobody published the europe version of the CONFIG

Some commands are intended to patch the PS2 memory (or the ISO) in a specific position. When the game developers compiled the game files the main executable for each region could have a different size, and as a consequence the positions in memory (and in the ISO) could vary "by region"

This is why some translation patches (and any other patch applyed to the ISO) could "break" some of the commands used inside the CONFIG, in this case the firmware doesnt applyes the command (lets say, if the command was a patch then the patch is not applyed)

Im explaining this just as something general that could happen with other games and configs... but in this case for the god hand europe version the solution is easy, we just need to find that config and decrypt it to add it to the collection (or someone experienced in making configs could "port" the config from usa to europe region)

Actually I was talking about the USA Version, but already solved the issue simple using the 0x41 command on managunzs,Apparently it is a speedhack??,I feel like a genius for that.

Nice intuition :D
The euro config uses commands: 0x3D, 0x41, and 0x0A
The value of the command 0x3D doesnt matters much, it just indicates the config version, and the command 0x41 you enabled manually in managunz config editor is correct
The problem is the command 0x0A... this is the command i was mentioning before that is patching the EE (Emotion Engine) memory of the emulated PS2

what are you talking about?
There has to be something not going quite right in your method. I tested Battle Gear 2 not too long after you said it didn't boot and it booted fine for me. It does have somewhat of a game breaking glitch in races, but modes without opponents run fine. Police 911/Police 24/7 also runs perfectly for me.

My method is to dump disc to bin/cue using an application (I use isobuster). Then to encrypt the bin to ENC using ps2classics GUI. You can then either make it into a pkg or boot through placeholder method on webMAN.

@mrjaredbeta your VP2 config really reduces the stuttering! Some effects are disabled, to fix the performance. Is the purple tint on the Lost Forest fps heavy? It changes an art style a bit though. Anyway, I do remember that screen space effect was very tricky to emulate correctly in the PCSX2.

Yes, it seems that effect is extremely heavy on performance. I always want to keep as much of the art style as possible (that's why I chose to keep the depth of field blur effect), but it's kinda iffy on this particular forest one. Fps drops a lot with the effect (you can see by testing without config).

FYI you can still encounter a rare freeze with this config, but I found it *only* happens after first battle (either after new game or first battle after loading game anywhere). If you encounter a freeze that is not after the first battle, please report it! Thanks. :)

@mrjaredbeta can u link me klonoa 2 USA config.PLZ.it is not on database.
It's on second post on page 145, but I'll upload it here for convenience.

It's possible...but haven't looked into it yet. I will add it to my list of games to check.

@pokegts90 Great news for Shadow Hearts 2/3: I managed to find exactly where the analog freeze is happening in the code. It seems the problem lies in some multiplication function when analog stick is executed. This operation is not touched when using d-pad, so it explains why it affects analog only. It was pretty tricky to locate because accuracy commands (0x0F and 0x10) have no effect on fixing it at all... I *hope* I can figure out a workaround for this, otherwise we're out of luck...but I am optimistic. :)
