PS3 Compatibility List - PS2 on PS3

fatal frame 2 also uses vsynch,game speed looks normal though?
Fatal Frame 2 uses IPU-only mode (for FMVs only, not in gameplay) and is using a negative value to help with playback speed (I assume). Without config, game has trouble with FMVs. 0x21 set at 0 mostly fixed that though.
 
King of Fighters 98 UM (SLUS-21816) some 2D stages have major slowdowns. Is there an updated config for this game? I know it got released as an official PS2 classic in Japan so maybe the config can be used with the US version?

There is no config in the Japanese release. How are the stages performing on actual PS2 hardware?

Converted the joker draw distance values config from 0,75 to 0,50
If we lower the draw distance more the game will be very ugly and is not necessary because it is achieving full speed now :)

@Major_Pothead92 This config dosen't remove anything, just lowered draw distance.

I have tested these values and it is not a full speed definitely. Driving is very laggy. To be honest with, I have tried various values and I think if they had any impact on the frame rate, it would be a small one.

Sorry but its the best the game can get, if i lower down more the pop-ins will be very near the character, making some missions and races harder to complete... even on PS2 the game struggles on the mansion's backyard, babylon club entrance, the bar near the bank, tunnel and few more.

You will get better result when edit LOD distance. Game issue is that Trees are drawn on VU1, completely.
Game send current position data many times per 1 frame. PS3 VU1 program cache is ~4MB + safe zone. With that specific game engine turning around on street can get ~4-5 MB of cached programs, which reset cache, and whole work again. Why setting different LOD distance will be better than lower draw distance? Because game need to cache long distance graphic, middle distance graphic, and closest distance graphic. While driving car this change almost all the time causing constant recompilation.

Finding setting to make game use only high detail trees (and other objects), should paradoxically make that specific title much faster. Because it will make little bit more work for GS, but also it will reduce VU1 programs by 2/3. And those VU1 programs are why title sucks for now. ;)

The trees could be drawn on the VU1 completely, but even with disabling them solely the game does struggle still to maintain a solid frame rate. But it is a good point and it should be done for both trees and objects.

Yup, by trees i meant all that crap that game do on VU1. trees, "flora",, some shadows, other small objects. All that can be noped on that one runtime. Finding way to use one level of details for that should help a lot.

If that's the best we can get, without removing everything, I'd say this is playable enough to do an actual playthrough on. Still not 100% smooth, imo, but huge improvement. I used to love going to the islands to get the stuff and going back on the boat, trying to avoid the pirates.. Best GTA copy ever.

so...can gt 4 freezing on arcade be fixed?living on third world sucks,pcs are expensive as hell here,otherwise i would just emulate on psx2.
 
What plans do you have now that Scarface is good?
Someone posted on the wiki that 7 Blades is not working properly, so I'll probably look into that next. I don't really plan a lot when it comes to this stuff, but I will eventually try to figure out the Xenosaga freeze and accuracy stuff when I have some time.

I'm pretty focused on my semester currently and don't have a lot of time with PS3 stuff currently, but I'll definitely work on whatever whenever I am able to. :)
