PS3 Compatibility List - PS2 on PS3

@Spec2K I made a stupid fix that patches the game really sloppily:
Code:
3D 00 00 00 57 44 00 00 0A 00 00 00 03 00 00 00
44 55 10 00 20 00 B0 7F 55 00 10 3C 48 55 10 00
10 00 B1 7F 78 21 10 36 4C 55 10 00 00 00 BF FF
00 00 00 AE 15 00 00 00 04 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
It kinda does what Sony's hook does, except it patches the function directly and deletes some storing of zeroes and ra to the stack that is seemingly unneeded as it never needs to jump out. It also never repatches the value to 1 (that the second hook does in Sony's config), but it doesn't seem needed(?). I can't fix the FMVs or menu glitches.

Btw, the PAL version's FMVs run fine, and the current database config works fine for that version. It only has graphical glitches on the menu. You might want to look into running that version of the game.

@atreyu187 You can always update the compatibility list with newer information. That's why it is editable. ;)

@mrjaredbeta must use config above to pass charpter 4?old config doesnt works?and better use pal ver?
It is a little unclear what works and what doesn't, but current testing shows that any config will cause game to crash after any battle in Chapter 5 due to game protection being triggered. I think it is unplayable as of now with any config. As of now, @AuroNPL's testing with current NTSC-U config and gxemu config/GameFAQs "non-edited/cheated" save both caused game to lock up after battle in Chapter 5.

Hello is possible make an config file for DRiv3r ?
It is not possible. Game requires too specific/accurate math that makes any configuration cause police AI to crash in the second mission. I did manage to get past that mission (at least the driving part) with a set of accurate commands, but it proved a bit more tedious/extremely slow than I would say is "playable." For now (and probably forever), unplayable.

The biggest problem with the Valkyrie Profile 2 is that it is painful to check if everything is working fine. As the game is crashing in chapter 5, a clean save is needed to make sure the game is working correctly (or you can always play from the beginning with a sense of fear it will crash eventually and all your spent time will be wasted). Actually, I still have a hope it is not an emulator issue, because the behaviour has to be similar to the gxemu one. And I am not able to find many reports in the web about a regular freezing on the semi-BC consoles.

I have got clean PAL saves (supposedly) near the chapter 5 and I will make some tests with different configs in a few days.

@mrjaredbeta .. Thank you very much for the input. I'll be sure to try out the PAL version. As long as the videos are good, minus a few menu graphic glitches, I can deal with that.

Much respect and to all in the community. :)

@mrjaredbeta you post pressure sensitive controls config for silent hill 2 before, do you have same configs for another silent hill series, like silent hill 3 or silent hill origins?

I dont know how this game does the saves, and how are corrupted, but when AuroNPL wrote this...
Hi, this game is dead and cannot continue story.
Chapter 5: Battle finished then crash every.
I play 30 hours (shit).
I have book official strategy guide.
Without cheat.

Save game: https://easyupload.io/cy8adh

Load save number no.: 51
It made me think that it was corrupted only slot 51 (and the previous 50 was fine)
Is not posible to recover that 50 saves before the corruption... or all them was corrupted ?

Btw @AuroNPL the people publishing configs doesnt mentions it always, but there are some configs that are doubtful because was not tested extensivelly along the whole game
Valkyrie pofile 2 is one of those games, it needs to be tested doing an "speed run"... you know going straight to the next point of the game that triggers the next chapter, ignoring side missions, optional stuff, and even skipping videos
It have a very annoying protection that crashes it after "some" battles, there was talks about it in this thread since months ago, they made lot of progress defeating that ptotection, but in your test it seems is not completly disabled

Actually the gxemu config is working fine, so the problem is caused by improper patching. Probably all slots are corrupted because of that.

@Vika23 Only Silent Hill 2 uses pressure sensitive controls for melee weapons (low pressure for one-handed swing, high pressure for two-handed swing above head). The other Silent Hill games don't take advantage of this.

@sandungas No, it definitely corrupts the entirety of VP2 saves. If you continue the game with save 50 and get to Chapter 5, it will freeze the same way.

Like @Agrippa said, I did a test with the gxemu and some test save files and it seems to be working fine I'm Chapter 5 by not triggering any save corruptor. That means that currently all gxemu configs should be fine to play with, but all current custom configs with patched values trigger the save corruptor. The custom configs seem to have ingame freeze protection disabled, but the save corruptor still manages to live.

@Spec2K: I need a 1.03 NTSC executable file to finish the config which will fix at least the freeze for the 2.00 version. I will be grateful, if you send me one.

@Agrippa I'd sure like to help out. But which executable files do you need and where can I find 'em and I'll send. If you are refering to the CONFIG files they are on the ps2 config website.

Quick question, couldn't find my answer with the search function.

1- I want to play the bouncer on PS3 Slim. I used PS2ClassicGUI to create a PKG of the game after encrypting an iso, but when in the game it does not detect pressure sensitive button. . . it always register as a hard press and in controller option I cannot change to analogue mode, it´s grey out.

2- weird problem also, the controller won´t ever get detected once I launch the PS2 game, it only work when connected with cable and every time the controller vibrate, it gets disconnected 0.o

(playing on PS3 Slim 25xx with evilnat 4.88.2 CFW cobra 8.3 webmanmod)

You have to use the newest config on the database that enables pressure sensitive controls. Download the latest config for your region from here: https://ps3.aldostools.org/ps2config.html

When you are encrypting your package, select the config you downloaded and the pressure sensitivity and frame rate problems will both be resolved. :)

The Suffering (SLUS-20636, SLES-51693, SLES-52439, SLES-52531)
The Suffering: Ties That Bind (SLUS-21189, SLES-53526, SLES-53527, SLES-53528, SLES-53626)

Code:
3D 00 00 00 57 44 00 00 04 00 00 00 20 00 00 00
00 00 00 00
I increased the parameter of the 0x04 command from 8 to 32. Increasing the parameter seems to clear up all possible graphical glitches when compared to the previous config where there was some flashing during combat and just randomly (same as gxemu). Only tested around 20 mins of gameplay for each.

Seriously...I can't believe how many of these gxemu configs are half-assed, incomplete, or just plain wrong and not working (Crash Twinsanity). Its like a riddle: Sony provides us with commands and clues and leaves it up to us to finish it. So many other games could have been playable (or more playable than they were) on CECHC/E half-BC models.

Anyways, this could definitely use some more testing. I am not sure what this command touches internally (some type of delay? parameter = cycles to delay?), but these games/all Surreal games seem to have had similar problems on PCSX2: https://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-Resolved-Bug-report-The-Suffering-NTSC?pid=213126

Fellowship of the Ring seems to be fine with default config. Drakan might need an adjustment if config is not working properly (untested).

Drakan: The Ancients' Gates (SCUS-97128, SCES-50006)
Code:
3D 00 00 00 57 44 00 00 04 00 00 00 20 00 00 00
00 00 00 00
Seems to help Drakan as well. It has less problems in "base" config since it is using a parameter set to 16 instead of 8. This clears up rare flashing (noticed some by the broken bridge in the first couple mins of the game), and probably more later in the game as noted in this list: https://en.everybodywiki.com/List_of_PlayStation_2_games_compatible_with_PlayStation_3
