PS3 Compatibility List - PS2 on PS3

Tested Champions Return To Arms with all configs available, it still flashes a preview frame on screen every few seconds, I even created a config with ps2 config editor with all patches on but it didn't fix this issue. A few questions:
1. Does anyone have a config file to fix this or know a way to minimize it? Does the EUR version have the same issue?
2. The other games (Champions of Norrath, Baldur's Gate 1 & 2) also have this issue?

It is caused by switching between 30 and 60 fps modes.
1. PAL version should be more consistent a little bit. It is possible to modify the threshold value, the engine does switch to the 60 fps mode back, like I did in Justice League Heroes.
2. Norrath has got, Baldur's Gate hasn't. It is all written on the compatibility list.

All fixes below are brought to you by kozarovv:

Fixes texture flickering by ensuring DMA transfers are finished. This is yet another implementation of the famous "Kozarovv Hook."

SNK vs Capcom: Chaos (PAL version) is a complete mess on both ps2_gxemu and ps2_netemu.

Running the game in 480p progressive scan mode fixes all the graphical glitches but doesn't run at full speed during most matches.
Interestingly enough, the game runs better on ps2_netemu with the slowdown being dependent on the stage you're on. On the Forgotten factory stage the game seems to run at full speed.
It's so close to actually running well on ps2_netemu, perhaps a custom configuration would get us there.

I patched the iso to always run in ps 480p with this pnach
https://github.com/felixthecat1970/...com - SVC Chaos (Jp,Eu)/cheats/AC3C1147.pnach

The game runs perfect on a CECHA/B console, 480p or not, on ps2_emu of course

Thanks for Evil Twin

Is there anything that can be done for Ridge Racer V or True Crime?
Nothing for now.

I currently only have a fix for the non-progressive mode's graphical glitches. Do you know if there is any graphical effect or any other difference between stages that are slow and Forgotten Factory? I am not too familiar with the game.

Fixes all frame rate issues, and additionally fixes flickering graphics when not playing in progressive scan mode.

@Alonso240 This still needs some more testing, but I have tried about 10 random arcade stages and they all played fine. This should still work with your 480p patched ISO.

Fixes freezes by ensuring DMA transfers are finished. This is hooked in a specific spot in EE memory to allow the frame rate to be the most stable, and the frame rate is better than actual PS2 hardware in most cases.

Who maintains the compatibility list on the dev wiki btw? Because i really take issue with Gran Turismo 4 and Tourist Trophy getting a Green badge.
Like the Intro Video doesnt work, cars aren't transparent, alternative display modes don't work and the background videos aren't working too. <- These are at least minor issues.

Anyone can edit the list. I have been making a LOT of edits the past month when testing games, but other users come and go with edits, which overall greatly helps the list. I am not 100% sure who marked it as playable (maybe @Agrippa?), but most of the time games are marked playable if gameplay itself is unaffected. I believe it was marked as minor issues at some point in time, though.

As gameplay *is* affected, maybe it should be marked as minor issues, so for the time being I will just change it back.

Project Zero freezes in the in-game cutscenes, can someone please fix it?
It's the PAL version of Fatal Frame.
Unknown if the 2nd and 3rd game have the same problem

The criteria are very subjective thus far from being correct. For example, these issues are not affecting gameplay in my opinion. On the other hand, the Chamber of Secrets unstable frame rate is atrocious, barely playable for myself.

I have been proposing the PCSX2-like system for years: playable, ingame and broken. Emulation standards set by the ps2_netemu are too low already to achieve perfect emulation (in both accuracy and performance, currently it is either accuracy or performance).

I like it, but I would add: playable with glitches.
Meaning that it has major glitches that affect the the visual experience, but not the gameplay.

Playable alone could be interpreted as near perfect emulation, which isn't the case for many ps2 emulated games on ps3.

By ingame and broken, I understand the game is unplayable at different degrees.

"Playable" does mean playable ("from start to finish without any major bugs or crashes that significantly hinder the playing experience", quote from PCSX2 wiki), not perfect and accurate emulation. "Playable with glitches" is no different than "Minor issues". My point is to get rid of it completely and merge "Playable" with "Minor issues". Additional notes could be added in the written form instead, such as random freezing, transparency issues, etc.

From a technical point of view you're correct. "Playable" is playable with or without glitches.
And that's perfectly fine for developers, researchers, and players that don't care much about visuals or performance.

However, from the user experience "Playable" (without a degree) may increase the expectative too high and may cause disillusion to general users.

"Minor issues" at least advices the user that there will be expected issues, without having to read the additional notes.

IMHO, "Playable with issues" could be a more accurate label, and don't require to clarify that "the compatibility is very close to Playable". But changes always bring controversy, so I would left it as it is.

You do not get my point. I am talking about simplify the maintenance (and readability as a result) by removing the unnecessary category. The reader of the list wants to know whether the game could be completed or not. Neither PCSX2 nor RPCS3 (have not checked others) are using this stupid system from the psdevwiki, because it gives nothing but a hassle at all.

When I started editing the compatibility list two years ago I was as picky as y'all. Then I realized the standards need to be lowered, because the overall performance was (and still is) poor. I tested dozens of games and not a single one was deserving the "Playable" note, as every game had some kind of issue present.

In that case, it would be more simple to have only 3 categories instead of 7: Playable, Broken, Untested.

Following your logic, In-game & broken are the same too.

The "Not Available" could be replaced by a dash or empty cell to declutter the list.

"PS2 Classic" could be replaced with "Playable", due there isn't difference in compatibility if the game was obtained from the PSN Store or dumped from a disc.
