PS3 Compatibility List - PS2 on PS3

No, "Ingame" is not equal to "Unplayable". "Ingame" is the same like "Major issues" now (heavy bugs, unplayable, but could be completed). "Broken" means the game does crash preventing the completion.

"PS2 Classics" is just an indicator the game was officially released by Sony. It does say nothing about the compatibility level, as few games were released in unplayable state.

Hahaha now I'm more confused. You're proposing to simplify... but now you are against to simplify it to: Playable / Broken.

For me, "In-game" is "Playable" (with minor or major issues) or "Broken" if it's "Unplayable" and cannot be completed.

"PS2 Classics" is an useless category that should be removed. That the game was published by Sony is irrelevant.
AFAIK There is not difference in compatibility between ISO or .BIN.ENC (official or converted with PS2 Classics GUI).

We love katamary randomly shutdown the console, completed the game and it only happened once, someone plz add the info to the devwikia.

Maybe katamary damancy config fix the issue?

I'm honestly for a rating above playable "perfect", also like PCSX2. Basically same as PS2 in everything or better.

I would unify ingame and broken in one category. Because doesn't boot and not being playable i would classify as the same result for the end-user.

Also playable with glitches i would understand as: playable but obvious graphical corruption visible or too low a framerate. But technically being able to be completed.

Playable: Everything with a framerate close enough to the original and with maybe with minor graphical issues that don't distract from the experience. Basically what Sony would have released too in this state.

Ok, you have taken the matter to an absurd level. Somebody asked, why the GT4 was marked as "playable". Then I pointed out that all compatibility ratings are subjective (this was my edit after all). I suggested that removing "Minor issues" would make the list more clear and less subjective. Nothing more, nothing less. EOT.

I honestly think the current categories are fine. There is no reason to reinvent the wheel, or take what PCSX2's list does, or really change anything at all at this point. Marking a "minor issues" game as "playable" would generally confuse people more than help, and assuming players just want to know if a game is completable or not is already accomplished with the current format and is more clear to the reader than merging.

And to add to it, performance is the same on netemu across the board since it is the same hardware. PCSX2's list does not have to worry about adding performance issues, but we do. It makes no sense to add a game that has general performance issues as green/playable when it obviously is not at that level.

Anyways, that's just my two cents. I'll continue adding entries and configs and improving the list as is, but I guess in the end it is really anyone's decision to go ahead and change it. I won't be stopping them.

Sorry for triple posting. Still cannot edit my posts after 15 mins...even after five and a half years of being on the forum.

Yo, I wanted to ask if there's any config available for Devil May Cry 1? (yes i'm aware of the HD Collection but that version has it's bugs which are mostly visual ones like a missing effect for one of the final boss's attacks for DMC1 and a broken gunslinger move for one of Dante's weapons in DMC3)

I should add i come from the perspective of someone still having a PS2. If too much stuff has to be deactivated on PS3 to get it to work properly i forgo the convenience of playing on PS3 and instead play on PS2.
Basically for me GT4 and Tourist Trophy loose too much on PS3. Same for the Matrix games.
But most games get there mostly intact and just with a very slight framerate hit. So i take the convenience ^^

That was why i was so adamant about GT4s and Tourist Trophys status.

Here are some nice descriptions from kozarovv that I forgot to pair with the previous configs:

Mike Tyson Heavyweight Boxing
"Game start VU0, and expect that after ~10 cycles data in VF01/VF02/VF03 is still untouched. More than that in 11th cycle game want new data from ee in those registers, or colors will be "rainbowized"."

Twisted Metal: Head-On: Extra Twisted Edition
"Game starts VU0 program, and load values to registers after that. Netemu run VU0 "at once", so values don't have a chance to get there. Rearrange code to first load regs, and then run VU0 program."

Air Ranger: Helicopter Rescue
"Game starts VU0 program, and try to read old data after running new program. Netemu run VU0 "at once", so values gets overwritten immediately. Rearrange code to first read old data, and then run VU0 program."

Sega Superstars Tennis
"Rearrange code to not corrupt previous result by new VU0 microprogram."

Btw is it possible to just install the database over the old database or do you have to uninstall the old one first?

It is recommended to uninstall the existing database, before install a new one.
Installing over an old version, will overwrite the existing files, keeping the removed configs that could cause issues.

BTW The large database PKG is only needed for HEN. webMAN MOD installs the configs for CFW (ISO only).

Okay interesting. I also need to delete the CONFIG files that where placed by WebMan Mod in the PS2 ISO folder, correct?
Does WebMan Mod automatically retrieve the latest CONFIG files from the internet if available? Or how does that work?

webMAN MOD uses the database to configure the games in PS2ISO. If the config already exists, the database is not searched.

Therefore if your game is working properly, there is not need to delete the config.

You only need to delete them when the games are not working as expected or if you want to start clean.
