PS3 Compatibility List - PS2 on PS3

The WRC games for PS3 was made by milestone (same game company of the motoGP), was ok because the game engine but imo not awesome
The one i liked most from PS2 i think was WRC 2 (not sure though) because the control was well ballanced in between simulation and arcade
In the others WRC for PS2 they changed the control a bit (for bad), but had better graphics, so it was a bit deception

And i use to configure the game settings to everything on manual and to the hardest settings... so the colin mc rae was too hardcore, lol

I like racing games, but from the PS2 im not so sure how many are worth to replay... the ones i know for sure that are worthy are the burtnouts because after EA bought the franquise they destroyed it, nowadays there are not crazy games like burnouts :/
And the need for speed undergrounds of course, but the others im not so sure, the colin mc rae is in a special category because the simulation level though

Btw
If you have some performance problems (or fps drops) you should try to use the CONFIG from burnout 3
I have the feeling im going to repeat this sentence too much in the future ---> "try burnout 3 config"

Yes i have it here when tried on nfs underground2, need to try it out later.
As for the other wrc games im going to test out them also when i can, agree with you theres nothing like the old burnout games those have great replay value and enjoy them much more then even the burnout paradise wich is good but not at the same level as those imho.

V-Rally might not be as great as wrc or colin series but again imho it as the best carrer mode out of all rally games.

There are CONFIG files for all the WRC games btw, im looking at them and most uses complex commands
So use that configs when you test the games, and verify the MD5 of the ISO before, otherway the CONFIG could not work

Another rally game for PS2 i just reminded (because there is a config for the asian version) is https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shox
I think i played it at some point, but i dont remember anything about it, not sure if worthy or a piece of crap

Edit:
This one was special too https://wiki.pcsx2.net/Dakar_2
The game was "meh"... but the stages was long races in open landscapes (some cool ones in deserts with dunes) and was needed to use orientation to not get lost (there are lot of times in the middle of a race where you are not sure where to go)
And is the only game i know where you can drive a huge truck offroad (this was funny)

Rally Fusion is another rally game and it's pretty mysterious and fun. Doesn't work on PS3 though, weird "irx missing" message or something. Not sure if there's any configuration files for it.

I had some difficulties to handle the pS3 versions in the begining but once it's done the races are more intense... i really loved them all, even if I didn't rly played to wrc 5 :p

@chicco33 try this ones ---> https://www.sendspace.com/file/xtklon

Try all them because all them are different than the one you was using, inside the zip there is a txt that explains what has been changed for every test
The config made by kozarovv was ordered in a differet way (first hook with 0x0A and second with 0x0B... in the original first goes 0x0B and then 0x0A), not sure if this could make some difference but i changed it to mimic the original
Also, at the time that cofig was extracted manually by kozarovv from gxemu... i think we was not looking at softemu yet, and the softemu config is different
The official softemu config is smaller than gxemu though (the gxemu does more things)... but initially i think the one from softemu could be better for netemu (because softemu and netemu does a 100% software emulation)... so maybe the small config is the way to go with this game

Result is the same for all configs, very slow at first screen, and at cutscenes, but i can call it playable.

Some information about Burnout 2's missing textures - ex: white wheels, white semi's, white tail lights, etc.

PCSX2 GameIndex.dbf:
Code:
Serial = SLUS-20497
Name = Burnout 2 - Point of Impact
Region = NTSC-U
Compat = 5
vuRoundMode = 1     //bright lights in cars

PCSX2's GameIndex.dbf file reveals that changing the "VU0 / VU1 Advanced Recompiler Options" from "Chop / Zero" to "Negative" or even "Nearest" fixes this problem for PCSX2. My hope was using the Tony Hawk .CONFIG file would work in a similar fashion since PCSX2 sets VuRoundMode = 0 to fix that game. Unfortunately that was not the case. Using both fixes from Tony Hawk .CONFIG together results in burnout 2 never making it to the PS2 boot logo. Separating the two fixes from that .CONFIG patch, doesn't resolve the texture issues with burnout 2 either. So maybe there isn't a way within the PS3's PS2 emulator to change that internally.

Anyway, I did manage to figure out what the third patch in SLUS_204.97.CONFIG does by modifying my ISO of burnout 2 and applying the fix to the game and loading it with PCSX2. This patch below prevents the game from loading the gameplay demo at the title screen.
Code:
   [GX] Command ID : 0x09
   [Net] Command ID : 0x0B
     Data Offset : 00344090
     Data Number : 00000001
       Sector : 00000531
       Offset : 000005DC
       Size : 00000008
       Patched data offset : 0x51C5E0
       Patched data : 0800E00300000000
       Original data offset : 0x51C5D8
       Original data : E0FFBD2790898727

how do you apply config files to ps2 games ?

Like I installed spyro a new beginning as a .bin and launched through mutliman it works but text doesnt appear.. I hear you can fix this with config files. But how can I access config files and apply to iso? Also any fix for crash twinsanity?

you need to download the config files according to your game id from here:
from gxemu : https://github.com/Zarh/Get_CONFIG/tree/master/files
from softemu : https://github.com/Zarh/Get_CONFIG/tree/master/soft/files
https://github.com/Zarh/Get_CONFIG/tree/master/soft/files
You can check game id by opening the iso with winrar example SLES_123.45, try both config files softemu and gxemu, they need to be named the same way as you game in same forlder, example:

Spyro.bin
Spyro.bin.CONFIG (this is the remaned config file you downloaded)

1. Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock SLES_549.62 = Working.

Load GX config and Disable FMV.

2. Guitar Hero Metallica SLUS_218.43 = Working (invisible/blinking band members)

Load GX config.

3. Guitar Hero 5 SLUS_218.65 = Working

Load GX config.

@kozarovv
I was looking at the cmd 0x09 of mafia, I didn't find the same as urs. you have 5 patch instead of 3 from gxemu.
http://www.psx-place.com/threads/compatibility-list-ps2-on-ps3.1306/page-23#post-87748

Where did you get it ? Or perhaps you added these 2 patches ?
Hi @Zar additional 2 patches are needed to avoid TLB miss that are affecting ps2_netemu, and pcsx2. My additional patches are ported from "prafull" work done here: https://github.com/pcsx2/pcsx2/issues/1496

And I confirmed that both of them are needed to finish game on netemu.

2. Guitar Hero Metallica SLUS_218.43 = Working (invisible/blinking band members)

Load GX config.

3. Guitar Hero 5 SLUS_218.65 = Working

Load GX config.
Is playable using Dual Shock 3!?

No it gets stuck in the exact swamp ladder as the 60gb console does

Hence looking for work around
Yep, game can't be finished because of that bug on ANY ps3 model.
Gran Turismo 3 A-spec EUR runs without issues dont need config file
No jumping screen issue?

I tested +40 solutions/configs, and still got nothing :/ I though this gonna be easy one to fix by 0x40 command, but nope.
The Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne Maniax Chronicle Edition english patch turns the games ID into the American versions ID which can explain why it freezes with a black screen on boot when loading it with and without managunz. If anyone can figure out why this is please let me know
This translation fail to boot due to bad patches applied in some stage of translation. It is recognized as PS2CD which is why it fail to boot at all. I try to look at this later.
So where is the difference for a PS3 slim (rebug 4.81.2) in PS2 emulation between gxemu and softemu configs?
Everywhere :P Many of configs will be the same for both, but not all. There is no clear answer for your question because we are talking about 1000+ files that still some are unknown, and not compared with others.
Crash Twinsanity config file doesn't works. The game loads but freezes randomly
Sadly I can confirm this. As I have this game in my collection I try to look into it later.
Star Wars Battlefront II still freeze US. EU works
US version works. Use my custom config if you have game in 2.01 version:

Code:
00000000  3D 00 00 00 89 3D 00 00 01 00 00 00 04 97 49 00  =...‰=.......—I.
00000010  05 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 53 4C 55 53 2D 32 31 32  ........SLUS-212
00000020  34 30                                            40

Such a small curiosity, Ps2 emu does not support the mouse and keyboard, I tested the game Soldier of fortune where you can play with the mouse and keyboard, on Ps2 this setting works :)

ps2_netemu is very limited in peripherals support. While gx_emu, and ps2_emu have actually really nice support, including mouse/keyboard.
