PS3 Compatibility List - PSN to ISO Conversions

That's one advantage an RGH 360 has over a CFW PS3, XBLA games can be played the same as regular ISOs and no conversions are needed such as Assassins Creed Liberation.

That said, I definitely took advantage of this and converted quite a few games for PS3.

what tool or tools did you used?
and what are the steps you try?
use this tool (E/S/S/S/E Resigner v4.5.4)
I was having this version NPEB01386 and it was without any update or DLC, and don't forget to but ASSASSIN_ISO the in the game folder like this:
Game_Folder(you can name it anything)/PS3_GAME/USRDIR/ASSASSIN_ISO

Hi I tried at first the PSN Liberator, but it didn't work and kicked me out to XMB, then I tried it manually through these steps:-
- Used Trueancestor Self resigner to resign the Eboot to NonDrm and output method is 4.00 STD
upload_2021-3-1_14-59-44.png

- Then Edited both PARAM.SFO in the main folder and C.00 folder to disk game and to 4.21.
- Copied a PS3_DISK.SFB from a working game and edited it with HEX editor to put the game ID on it.
- Then made PS3_GAME folder and put all the game folders inside it.
- And created ASSASSIN_ISO folder and put it inside USRDIR
- Made an ISO of it using Genps3iso.
- The game start and says the game is using auto save, then white screen and loading bar shows, then the white screen skips to the loading screen and then loading bar fills up and then freeze.

I'm using the same version as you used NPEB01386 with PS3 CFW Rebug 4.86

I don't remember all the steps right now, but I think your steps are OK, but there is one thing is missing, did you resign the SELF and SDAT files? (I don't think you need to resign the SDAT files but just do it to be sure).

I didn't resign the SELF files because the PSN liberator resigns them but unfortunately the game kicks me back to the XMB, I'll try to resign them manually and will tell the results tomorrow.

If you have managunz installed... and the game in JB format...
Managunz have 2 options to resign game fies, you need to press triangle button on top of the game icon and you will see 2 different ways to do it

As far i remember... the assassin's creeds have an .sprx (named "Uplay" something ?), this file is going to be resigned too

I suggest to make a backup of the EBOOT.BIN and that .sprx before resigning them (use the filemanager to copy them to other folder), just incase the resign made by managunz doesnt works, that way you can restore back the files

And btw, you should delete the saves before booting the game in the new format, because:

1) the name of the save folder depends of the presence of the ASSASSIN_ISO folder, if you booted the game without it (and the game created a save)... that save could be problematic

2) the assassin's creed games have a weird way to manage the saves, only allows to create 3 saves (like in cartridges for old consoles), and are displayed in a menu that does some kind of "preloading" of the saves
When i was messing around with it in some of the tests the menu was displaying the saves fine, but when clicking in them to load them the game was freezing as far i remember (because the save was invalid)

Hi I just resigned the SELF and SDAT files as you told me, and here are my results:
- The game contains No. of SDAT files and 2 SELF files, the 2 Self files are Uplay, and another file, when I resigned all the SDAT and Uplay the same result as before, the game boots up with the notification that says the game uses autosave, then a weird white screen with a loading bar, after the bar fills the screen turns to another loading screen "which is the real loading screen when loading the game through the PKG", and then the game stays freezing when the bar is filled.
- When I try to resign the both SELF files the Uplay and the other one, the game kicks me back to the XMB the same as what heppens when I used PSNLiberator.

The PKG game is installed as well in my PS3, do you think the installed game might cause problems or conflicts with the ISO ?

Do you think it's because of my PS3 ?? it's CFW REBUG CEX 4.86
Do you think I should disable cobra for example ??
I even tried to remove the .edat from the exdat folder, because I thought it might cause conflicts.

And what are the best options for resigning the files ?
maybe I'm using the wrong options.

It's in ISO format, and the original files is copied on my PC, and the game is installed as well in the PS3, do you think the installed game is what causes the conflict ??

Should I uninstall it for the ISO to work ?

And I removed the save as well as you told me.

Thanks everyone for your help, much appreciated.

At this point you could have 3 posible installation types, the original PKG, the "gamedata" when you booted it as JB format, and the "gamedata" when you booted it as ISO format
They could interfer with each others because all them are the same TITLE_ID, the game loads files based in it so it could be confusing because you dont know which files from that installations are loaded

In my oppinion the best way to prevent that mess is to delete them, and let the game install it again
Also, it could be more convenient to start the tests with the game in JB format... just because this allows you to resign files easilly (with managunz), or to modify them (to change TITLE_ID, etc..)

as sandungas say you have to delete everything related to the game from your console and reboot before every test you made.
and your PS3 is fine you don't need to do anything. just try again by cleaning the leftover of your last test and see.

did you have the EDAT file for the game? if yes don't forget to install it and leave it, you don't have to delete it for every test.

I will try to make the game again and share my result.

Someone tryed to convert "freedom cry" to ISO ?
Originally it was a DLC for "black flag", but later was released as an standalone game
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassin's_Creed:_Freedom_Cry#Downloadable_content
In February 2014, it was announced that Freedom Cry would be released as a standalone title on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 on February 18, 2014 for North America and February 19, 2014 for Europe
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps3/743813-assassins-creed-iv-black-flag-freedom-cry/data

Im mentioning it because those are the only 2 assassin's creed games published for PS3 only in digital format... liberation and... freedom cry

Thanks very much, I can confirm now that after deleting the installed PKG, and converting the game to ISO with just resigning the EBOOT and nothing else the game worked fine, I even deleted the edat and it worked without it.
The only strange thing I noticed is that the game when starts there are 2 loading screens one white with loading bar, and the other that comes after it is the normal loading screen, and the game installs data with a background "Trial", but the game itself ia complete not the trial.
Don't no of this is normal, or this is due to not including the edat, and resigning the UPLAY and the other SDAT files.

Thanks very much for ypur help everybody

I dont know about this game, but he first screen with a progess bar is where the game does the "gamedata" installation. All the assassin's creed games released as bluray have that screen (is identical, only changes the image at background)
After writing my previous post i was thinking that maybe it doesnt installs anything in this case because the game was originally a PKG (not a bluray release)

The advise about "trial"... i dont really know... but i remember all the images used in that first screens are single files easy to replace... and all them are BIK format

The BIK format is for videos... but it allows to create a BIK video with a single frame... so is displayed as an static image
You can play (create, and edit) BIK files with a tool named "RAD video tools"

If you dont have this tool but still want to check if the "trial" image is one of the BIK files... what you can do is to replace one of the BIK files (the tiny size ones) by any other BIK... then boot the game to see if you found it

Does anyone know/remember how to convert Yakuza 5 to ISO or folder format? I had it that way several times, the last being Japanese version with english subs but I can't remember why I needed that version. Anyway I remember it being the most difficult game to convert and I stupidly deleted it to save space but now I want it back and don't remember how.

After many hours of trying and using EESE resigner paramsfo editor and other tools I finally remembered Yakuza 5 can be played from external hard drive but it'll still be an xmb game. All of my games are in sman and I have no games on my xmb I was hoping to load it in sman but I remembered only the Japanese version will let you do that and I can no longer find the one with english subs so I just put Yakuza 5 on my PS4 even though I have limited space on it.

Yakuza 5 was released in digital format (PKG) for AU/EU (NPEB-02228), and US (NPUB-31658). I guess this ones have english subtitles
https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps3/644272-yakuza-5/data

But i dont know if it can be converted to ISO, i was asking about it in the "PSN liberator" thread: https://www.psx-place.com/threads/psn-liberator.26134/#post-266529

There are 2 english translation patchest for other yakuza spinoffs:

Japanese version doesn't have english. Someone made a patch though but I can no longer find it.

I was never able to convert the english version to ISO, but the Japanese version got a disc version. Again though would need the patch for english.

Thanks but I have both those on my PS4.

@Me_TheKing

How did you do it for Okami HD? I have try different method but always reboot at start... Someone knows? What is the magic behind? Thanks

That game can't be converted some games just can't I tried many times only Japanese version can.

In the first post of this thread the one that is working is again the Japanese version.
