I set up FHDB on my hard drive after starting out with FMCB on a memory card. Everything works great, and now that OPL 1.0 is released - everything really looks great and plays amazing.
Only issue remaining revolves around save games. I'm completely confused.
I have a 64MB memory card that I figured would be enough, but since I have a 2Tb drive and FHDB, it makes sense to just save games directly onto the hard drive, right?
So I read a bunch of stuff involving OPLBatch and OPL Manager. The Manager worked great for putting artwork for all the games onto the hard drive, and apparently OPL Batch is good for "the tedious job of setting up VMCs and other things".
But here's the thing: in OPL now, it seems like every game I look at already appears to have its own separate VMC set up by default, and it works. I've tested a bunch of games, and in the OPL VMC settings it says "SLES-12345" (the gameID), and each game behaves like there's a memory card in slot 1 (obviously no memory cards are plugged in now).
Am I missing something here? Why are people talking about setting up VMCs per game and using stuff like OPLBatch to automate it when it seems to be done automatically? Is this a new feature of OPL or something?
Really happy with it otherwise - OPL looks GORGEOUS in 1080i widescreen!!!!!!
Thanks to anyone who can explain this for me like i'm 5
