Current CFW and going online / Bans IDPS/PSID

1. I am using Rebug 4.84.2 DEX currently, and can sign into PSN, is this safe to do so?
- If you have been using DEX and logging into PSN from older firmwares have you been banned faster?
- Or is there better chances of not being banned by using latest CFW (currently Evilnat 4.89)?

2. I have seen some people only changing IDPS, I always change PSID plus IDPS or has this changed?

3. Does webMAN change PSID/IDPS permanently?

4. Is PSNEnabler still useful? Should I change MAC address anytime console is banned?

5. Is PSNPatch currently useful (beside .rap installing)?

6. Beside using webMAN to disable syscalls, what other things can I do minimise risk (which games should I stay away from etc)?

1. CFW is not supposed to be used on PSN. Therefore there is always a risk of being banned.
If I recall correctly, you can login with DEX changing the network environment from NP to one for developers in Debug menu.
If you are on Evilnat 4.89, you should use NP environment. In any case, always disable CFW syscalls.
It's also possible to go online with Evilnat 4.88 using the proxy method. But the risk is unknown.

2. Console ID is composed of IDPS+PSID. Changing both is more secure. AFAIK only IDPS is needed.

3. No. IDPS+PSID are changed in LV2 memory only. As it's done on boot, it seems to be permanent.

4. PSNEnabler is not recommended since 4.88. AFAIK Mac address change is not required. However changing it makes your console more stealth.

5. PSNPatch is optional. With latest changes in Cobra 8.3 and webMAN MOD, PSNPatch has not much use.
- Cobra/Mamba can install rap directly just copying the rap in /dev_hdd0/exdata or /dev_usb000/exdata.
- The PSN login is automatically blocked until you disable CFW syscalls.

6. Other tips to be safe are:
- Do not use cheats online!!! Do not ruin the online experience of others.
- Do not use game mods online
- Have a low profile online (e.g. don't treat other users, don't show evidences that you use CFW)
- Do not run homebrews online
- Do not re-enable CFW syscalls while connected to PSN
- Spoof IDPS is not really needed unless your console is already banned or to protect it.
- Use a throw away account to connect to PSN. If your account is banned, you don't lose your purchases.
- Never use auto-login in PSN. Connect only when needed.
- It's recommended that your default account for auto-login to PS3 don't have a PSN account associated
- Use only content legally purchased. Do not use pirated games.

NOTE: Even doing all this, it is not guaranteed that you won't be banned. Sony changes their policies frequently and some practices that were safe until today, may not be anymore.

NOTE2: If you use an IDPS purchased online, the risk of banning are high. The sellers normally sell the same IDPS to several users. Use only IDPS obtained from a trusty source, like from a dead console that you already own.

I've had 3 or 4 bans running D-REX 4.84.2 from late 2018 to 2021, typically CIDs that I purchased on eBay would last for at least 8 months.

Once or twice a CID did not last for much longer than a month, probably most likely from modding GTA5 with free menus or I even had a paid SPRX menu for Black Ops 2 which is the game that I suspect to always be the cause of my ban because I would get banned after running mods on Zombies for about a month or more.

On other hand I also recall being insta-banned after testing a GTA5 mod menu while online, shutting my console off, only to turn it back on later to login and find out that I was banned

SPRX menus are also capable of stealing your CID depending on what the creator truly invented them for... and not all people are always in it for the fun or freedom of modding so you should always study every aspect of ban-proofing and always remember to check your .sprx files for malicious code if they are within the timeframe of being compatible with the SPRX checker tool.

Also a good mention, you should probably NEVER run .GSC mods because those too are very high-risk and I did happen to be pinging those mods from PC to my console back in the days when I was always getting banned.

i.e. don't use CCAPI which is required to run GSC's... I wouldn't use it for spoofing either as there are many safer and well-practiced methods nowadays.

You live and you learn.

Thank you for detailed answer.

1. I only want to be able to use CCAPI to connect RTM tools, but since there is no support for 4.89 - will it work? (many users I have seen are using 4.84 Rebug to sign into PSN and use all features)
- Besides this, is there any significant difference between Evilnat 4.89 and Rebug 4.84 CEX?

2. In your opinion, would it just be better to use webMan to change psid/idps on boot, or changing it permanently in LV2 using IDPSset? (@Joonie has said in 2019 it messes up QA tokens if changed permanently)

3. I will be changing MAC address since my console has been banned before.
So for this will SenEnabler suffice? (by using in-built mac address change, not sure if its permanent).

I don't use CCAPI. I think RTM tools rely on debug syscalls. If that's the case, Rebug is your choice.

Rebug 4.84.2 allows switch between CEX/DEX modes. Evilnat is CEX only.

If Joonie said that don't use permanent spoofs, believe him. He's one of the gurus of Rebug.

I haven't used SEN Enabler to change the MAC address. So I don't know if it's permanent or not.

Thanks.
It's more than likely than these so-called CID sellers recycle these ID's to maximise profit, so it's not your fault. GTA is thought to be most prone to bans anyway. Might also be MAC address related.

1. Are you able to run CCAPI and attach RTM tools on 4.89 Evilnat? (it doesn't mention official support as of now 22/06)
2. Are you going online using Rebug right now?
3. Have you had any issues with your CFW stability by changing IDPS permanently in LV2?
