PS3 Debug settings gave a RSOD after restoring to normal.

I think you aren't going into recovery. A recovery screen does show when you mess up but you can skip it. Try holding the power button until ps3 turns on and off and then hold it again until you hear two consecutive beeps. Then connect your controller and reinstall firmware through recovery

the safe menu is recovery btw.

I read your other post about this happening after using the debug settings thing with han? it's the first time I've heard of that happening. I guess it won't matter formatting the hdd now or after testing another hdd. afaik, there's currently no way to get the eid_root_key to decrypt the hdd on pc if using han...at least I don't recall reading about one. putting in a different drive will force a change in the xregistry which seems to be the only thing checked by the system. it records the serial number. even if you do that, then pop the original hdd back in, it should force you to format anyway. plus, the hdd is kinda useless as it sits since a large part of the firmware is on it, and it won't let you reinstall the firmware for some reason.

Lots of users here have swapped hard drives and then back without being asked to format, Maybe it would ask to format on old firmware, but not anymore, NAND might be different.

as I said, it's useless as it stands. if it's a firmware problem and he can't reinstall the firmware to the hdd, there's really no choice but to format in hopes that that corrects it.

I don't know where to ask this so I'm gonna try here. By any chance, is there a way in the future or even now to get "install all package files" to work with package manager? I tried it and I got an error and in guessing that is because I'm still on OFW just with HAN.

that might be the nas_plugin.sprx. no idea if it's possible to install all with han since I've never used it.

yes, as mentioned by @junaid if you get a crash from bad/invalid/rejected SELF/SPRX you will be kicked to a "fake" recovery which you can exit with PS button.

always use the power button method to access recovery then try.
  1. Power Down PS3 With The Power Button
  2. Insert USB Stick Into PS3 w/OFW PUP in Correct Folder (/PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP)
  3. Push and HOLD Power Button (one beep) Until PS3 Shuts Itself Off (1 single beep + another single beep)
  4. LET GO OF THE POWER BUTTON
  5. From Power Off State, Push Power Button (one beep) and HOLD until you hear a single beep, then a double beep
  6. LET GO OF THE POWER BUTTON
  7. Plug in PS3 Controller and Select System Update

and if fails, as mentioned by @pinky @DeViL303 try another drive or format that one in PC to NTFS then put into PS3 and let PS3 format it again

make sure you have OFW PUP on flash drive

also, i have replaced all mentioned + many other SPRX/SELF on superslim eMMC/NAND with absolutely 0 issues...just sayin

recovery works fine
