PS3 DECH-2500A Testkit

Heya, i have recently aquired a DECH-2500A Debug devkit that has never been opened and has some developer builds and game data, the lot, still on it's original hard drive, it was a system that had been used by EA Games and even still has the EA asset tag still on it.

How would i go about dumping all of this from the drive? It's got OFW 4.11 DEX and i'd rather not mess around with it until i get everything off of it. Thanks.

P.S. I've wanted a devkit for ages and i've finally got one! I am super happy rn haha. :D

EDIT: Added the P.S., i also wanted to check the psdevwiki to see if there was any documentation on these systems, but there's only info on the 3000A devkit and the reference tools.

I think you can just install an FTP app and dump the stuff off it with that.
That's a no go, just get a "80010017" error upon trying to run it.

EDIT: I checked the gamedata, and it seems at some point the dev even used ftp to get the files on there as its just called "ps3ftpd" in the gamedata section. With its id being "FTPD99999"

Cannot. OFW doesn't allow access to all HDD resources, even on DEH and DECR. And as I remember FTP Server using peek & poke.

Talk with "HEN peoples", for exploitation. There is Rebug CFW for debug kits too.

You cannot install CFW over OFW past fw v3.55. It doesn't matter if this is DEX, CEX, SEX, GEX etc. I don't remember now if DEX by default allow to downgrade. If yes, then You can. I used CEX2DEX console hundred years ago so sorry but I do not remember.

Back then I'm switching between DEX OFW 3.55, DEX OFW 4.xx and later replaced by CFW 4.11 Psita. But around 4.25 something they changed regarding to eid5 and a lot of bricks appears. However, You have real DEX so nothing to worry I think. But this makes me wonder that there was not any blockade prevent at least to downgrade (and also QA stuff was back then unknown).

Does the bgtoolset work on debug consoles? I see that it says it supports 4.80/4.81 DEX.

it's something to do with the X-I-5 Passphrase, from 4.30+ they added in a signature check to see if was a converted retail, and if so, would panic the system forcing a brick. So i assume i am in the clear since as you said, is a legit dev system.

So, if it has been QA flagged, then i can install Pasta directly?

I doubt it, we can not make proper PUPs. It will need to be patched using something like BG Toolset to allow custom DEX PUPs to install.

For now you can only install official DEX.

The PS3 Toolset will load on 4.80+ DEX consoles & the various tools should work just as well as on CEX HOWEVER it doesn't mean to say that all the features are relevant or available.
When the Toolset is launched in DEX kernel mode, some FMM features are disabled (Strict mode should always remain "on" unless you are a developer who knows exactly what he/she is doing).
For instance, there is no integrated no-fsm dex patch available for download as there should be no need for a "DEX jailbreak" feature, DEX kernels allowing you to run custom self executables by default.
Of course, if they need to, devs can turn Strict mode off & use FMM to patch CoreOS with a custom file for their own purposes.

Regarding PASTA cfw installation, I am not familiar with DECH consoles but I would assume that if the console is CFW compatible (old metldr) then you can downgrade to 3.55 DEX & install PASTA directly.

If that's true, would i be able to just install joonie's PASTA firmware without any sort of patch or modification? All i want to do is to be able to dump the data from it, even a basic ftp program of some sorts would be enough if that's possible on the fw it's currently on.

It should be, i checked the update screen and its the same as my CECH-2503B, minimum version of 3.40. Thanks for the heads up bguerville you've been a huge help, i'll most likely end up doing what you said and downgrade to 3.55 DEX, then back up to joonie's PASTA. :D

Like I said, I am not familiar with DECH consoles but afaik there is no difference when it comes to CFW compatibility issues so here is how I would go about this if I were in your shoes.

Load the PS3 Toolset's Flash Memory Manager to check if your console is CFW compatible. While you are at it, dump your NOR & keep the file safe somewhere, you never know, you may need it one day.
If the console is CFW compatible, I suggest installing DEX OFW 3.55 first then DEX PASTA 4.8x.

Edit:
Posting at the same time. Lol

Try to Install any DEX CFW (i.e Pasta) from USB. If this will not work (if fw is not compatible for various of reasons, package will be rejected, not even unpacking would start), then first DEX OFW 3.55 and after that DEX CFW. You risking nothing by this way.
