High probably because You have soldered modchip. FMCB/FHDB 1.9xx line have a lot of problems with them, or I should say otherwise, those modchips are incompatible.
In those times, modchips are almost useless and cause unnecessary troubles.
There is not.
I never heard of any FHDB incompatibility causing by not original Network Adaptor so I put bet on modchip, which is common issue (i.e in my case none of 1.9xx works properly with Ripper 2 Gold (boots fine but any app launching cause black screen), once I got rid of it (or soft disable it until next boot), everything start to works fine). But You know, You don't loose much using older FHDB than last one, so I believe it is not big deal anyway (yet I don't know which version support HDD OSD, maybe not all; if You ever plans to using it).
Actually that's strange. But I don't know what was in those disk images, I never need it and due to the APA structure, it is not wise to write someone else image. Nothing comes to my mind which could cause freezing in 1.966 and working with 1.953 other than modchip. So if I understood correctly, when You install 1.966 by Yourself it works, and when write disk image with 1.966 to HDD it freezing?
Do not use term "installing on PC" because this means that user put into "__mbr" loader by itself, and put files on "__system" and "__sysconf" by itself using i.e PFS Fuse or PFS Shell. This is not the same as writing disk image.![]()
Try OPL v1.1.0.
One more questionwhy some games (Gow 1 & 2) are stuttering on OPL? (opl v1.0.0 if I enable GSM as HD 576). When I disable GSM, the stutter problem does not occur. Weird.
Do you have these games from PAL or from NTSC region?
Did you try 480p?
The console is PAL but the games are NTSC (US) maybe it can cause the problem. Today I'll download and try the EU version of game. Yes, I tried 480p and still stuttering. When I enable it on menu GSM its stutter if I disable game work flawless.
Welcome back, that's me, againI got my network adapter (not genuine) and I installed FHDB 1.966 but there is only Sony logo and fmcb logo and black screen. I researched a few and solved the problem by installing version 1.953 (working well on HD) but my question is why I have this problem? Why my HDD and network adapter is not working on 1.966? Thanks for advice

Both are good, the difference is that FreeMcBoot 1.966 ELF Loader has some issues with modchips.Hello everyone I know ps5 came out a year ago but I still have my PS2. I have only 10 original games, now I want to purchase a freemcboot and play. It's confusing to me which versions I should purchase. I know, 1.966 is the latest version, but everyone says 1.953 is the most stable version. Which would be better for me to buy 1.953 or 1.966 FMCB?
Thanks for reply
Enjoy
Premade Images are crap.Just download and clone it " HDDOSD_100J_ATADP_DTL-H_FIX_48BIT_APPS.IMG " in any HDD that you want through PC using
HDDRawCopy and plug it into PS2 with a Network Adapter
from here https://archive.org/details/PS2_HDDOSD_100J_48BIT
And read this thread to update your OPL
https://www.psx-place.com/threads/how-to-boot-opl-gui-through-hddosd-with-opl-launcher.35547
bootleg adapters tend to increase the problems of pre-made imagesHDD and Network Adapter shouldn't matter in this regard. Usually it's a conflict caused by a modchip.
EDIT: Didn't noticed there was another page '^^
Premade images installed from PC are the problem, they cause issues on the MBR, and the complexity of FreeHdBoot MBR ensures that you will suffer those issues.I disassembled the console in the morning but there is no modchip then I assembled and start the console with FMCB. Format HDD via HDDmanager and install FHDB by FMCB installer. The result is now I have FHDB 1.966 but when I install FHDB via PC there is a black screen problem. I decided to use FMCB and play games on HDD, I was just curious about the source of the problem.
