He was very clear:
The dashboard has almost no complex restrictions, just keep credits in one place as it seems. Most free software licenses has similar restrictions regarding the credits, so it is not so different to other licenses out there.
The installer is what has a distribution restriction, and IMO, it is not that bad. You can only download the installer from the developer's website.
I think that's a good move. Various users posts FMCB tutorials in forums and YouTube. They mostly upload their own noobie package, which contains software (OPL, ESR, etc) from a moment in time (let's say 2018) and they never get updated afterwards. If a user follows that tutorial in 2022 he will be stuck with 4 years old version of software. Having an enforced download link, pressumibly the same link that now holds the "soon" countdown, is a good solution to always have the most updated download link for a noobie package. Maybe he plans on something like
https://www.sdsetup.com/ which will be even better.
I have old XEB+ builds in two of my MCs (one from 2018 and one from 2021) and the dashboard is always an standalone ELF appart from the bootloader. It gives you enough freedom to use any dashboard you edit and compile by yourself or by any other developer. Just as he said:
By doing so, noobs will always be using the stable stuff and pro users simply can download an ELF from elsewhere and replace the one in their setup. I mean, he never said you can post the download link in a forum like this one, he said you can not upload the installer to MEGA or anywhere else. So, I assume I will do no wrong by posting:
"Tutorial:
- Download XEB+'s Installer from here:
http://www.hwc.nat.cu/ps2-vault/hwc-projects/xebplus/
- Extract the folder in your pendrive.
- Run Installer.elf and follow the on screen instructions."
See? Totally legal, right? He doesn't said I can't do that. Same as the YouTubers could do in their tutorials.
