DKWDRV

PS2 DKWDRV Unified PS1DRV for all PS2 models 1.7.6h

DECKARD consoles are the 75000 models right?
And so from what I have read, PS games on these models and onwards are being emulated, because the change to a PowerPC cpu from the MIPS cpu? Sorry to ask this here.
So is this homebrew something like a emulator emulating both the disc drive and and then the console does emulation too

Is this intended to be better than POPs? I wish we can have a native form to run psx games via usb like the ps2 do with original discs. Is there any project to do so?

@Moronz And newer: SCPH-9xxxx and KDL-xxxx.
Emulated is IOP, PSX games are virtualised. In some meaning, emulated. However, DKWDRV is not for Decard models only, but most of features are locked for non-Decards.

@DarkMotzkus This one doing that. :P

Simply WOW! Tonight I quickly tried a dozen games from various regions with a 90004 and they all worked as intended and within the expected limitations, all with very fast loading times. I also tried an old Net Yaroze games collection which worked very well. :encouragement:
I'm not a programmer, so apart from testing games and features I can't collaborate further but this project is truly a game changer, keep up the good work!

In your video comment you mention being native compatibility, and not being full software emulation like POPS, isn't this wrong? As Berion replied to me
DECKARD doesn't do Software-based emulation, but has a MIPS APU which is used to natively execute the MIPS-Opcodes and the PPC rather handles what the software running on this MIPS APU is interfacing (I/O) with.

tl;dr That means we can have native execution of the code, whilst (somewhat) controlling I/O and/or execution-speed or speed of transfers, latency accuracy and so on, ALL via DECKARD!

This is not limited to PS1-Mode, but could be done in PS2-Mode as well. OPL doing it's disc-emulation, VMC, PADEMU, on DECKARD? Most of it is very likely possible!

I tested many games and found some problems

Gran Turismo 2 (Disc 2) SCPS-10117, License mode, there will be severe flickering and distortion on the menu

A diagram of how this works would be great
I always wondered why OPL could not load PS games too

Can I get the correct way to pronounce the name of this project? In spoken word, would it be like "D K W Driver"? Or is it an acronym for something else?

I know virtual memory card support is not there yet, but I assume physical ps1 mem cards work for saving game files?

Also, does it work for all slims, or what is the minimum PS2 model number that this project is meant to work for? Glad to see some updates in over a year, very exciting!

Yes, they do!

DECKARD only/SCPH-75k and newer.

Hello, it does not work on my PS2 model: SCPH-90001 C2
With all games, this message appears:

"DKWDRV EE Exception handler: TLB load/inst fetch exception"

I tried different pendrives
different .bin files
different versions DKWDRV.ELF
Is the PS2 version not compatible?
thank you.

Tech noob here. I am slightly confused by this. What exactly does DKWDRV do for PHAT PS2's? Is it just a way to run PS1 mode on a non mod chipped console?

USB loading is also not available for PHAT PS2's aswell?
